POST GAME Round 19 - Rabbitohs vs Broncos

Says to me that our halves are fine - it's our forwards that are struggling to get us in attacking positions.

Yep. A good chunk of us, including me, have been saying this for quite some time now. It seems fairly obvious that if your forwards aren't going forward, your halves have no time and space. It's the oldest cliches in the game, but oh so true.

That's not right. It's all Hunt's fault. He is responsible for putting us in field position, scoring points, setting up plays. He's also soley responsible for every point scored against us since Thurston's field goal. We should get rid of all our forwards and backs, replace them with qcup players and buy Thurston and cronk. We would never lose.

No it's not his fault, and I don't think anyone ever said that.

A good kicking game goes a long way to control a game, and I don't know if you noticed, but his long kicking game against souffs, was some of the best stuff I've ever seen him do, and that helped us a lot, especially in the early stages where our pack was being dominated. Of course, them dropping balls to give us field position was pretty handy as well...
McCullough kicking to the side line for a breather once we were up by a few tries difference also made a big difference.

P.S. I don't know if Locky being at training was the difference, but fair dinkum... never seen Hunt kick so well.

Yeah this is pretty much spot on, I was waiting for the s*** kick but it didn't happen... And Macca kicking a couple of times was good too... If we can't make good meters by punching up the guts we need a good kick on the 3rd as we have seen and then some stinging defence to either force an error or start our next set in better feild position. If this is timed and executed well it is just as effective as well as keeping the defence guessing

Turn those big forwards around. Officially the oldest play in the book.

Hunt's kicking game isn't as bad as people say it is..

If it was just a one off, I would say it was just a fluke. But he has done that a fair few times in his career.

The problem is, he isn't consistent. He'll have a great kicking game one week, then it will go back to usual the following.

I would be expecting an average kicking game next week.

We were far from perfect but there was a lot to like about this performance.

There was an urgency in our goal line defence that we haven't seen in quite some time. Had we faltered there, the game could have opened up for Souths. They looked more fluent in attack than they have of late, but we kept turning up in numbers and shut them down. It wasn't always pretty but we got it done.

Kicking game was on point, and was instrumental in denying Souths the opportunity to attain momentum .

Execution was a little off with forward passing, but I was impressed with our commitment to attack. Just keep putting the ball through the hands, wait for a misread in defence, exploit, repeat. A shame we didn't execute better and put 50 on them but it was pleasing to see us consistently challenging their defence.

Application wasn't perfect but the effort was certainly there. I feel like we may have left our run a little late, but if we keep that as our benchmark we'll at least enjoy some solid wins over the last few rounds.
