Cleary is 20 year’s old. He’s still inconsistent as most 20 year olds are. He’ll be a great eventually.

Or he might not, people hype up youngsters especially playmakers only to fizzle down the track from the pressure/expectations placed on them. Not saying Cleary won't, but it's early days to declare him as going to be great eventually.

Yeah this. FWIW I think Cleary will most likely be a very good player, but the whole 'this guy will be a great' gets a bit tiresome (this is not a go at anyone just a general comment).

How many players have we heard this of they turn out to be nothing. It was only a few years ago that we were told that Kane Elgey was a superstar and would be the longterm QLD halfback.

I haven't been overly impressed in Cleary in his last few games. He seems the same as Taylor where when his team is massively under the pump, he really can't do shit to pull them out of it.

So true partly because they call most of the plays and partly because they can step better than most forwards any half back doing a half decent job seems to stand out more. Their skill set is more tangible and easier to quantify. Whereas, a forward doing the hard carriers and the 1 percenters are harder to spot for the average punter and as a consequence is seen as nothing special. Cleary looks the goods, some of his reads have been better than average, some of his work less so. He has the potential to be a great half. Only time will tell.

He is an amazing half right now! Best half in the game, and guaranteed to be an immortal in the future

If you don’t rate Cleary as a coach then I don’t think you follow much football.

I'm no Big Pete but I watch enough to know that consistency hasn't been one of Ivan's hallmarks. He's not the worst option out there but he's overhyped by the media.

I’ve always thought this as well.

What has he actually achieved in all his years as coach? One loss in a grand final
