Hurts our chances of keeping Fafita.
not really ... they already had a million freed up from Inglis medical retirement ... they're not going to now up their offer to 2 million a season

Yep, really interesting indeed. They'll have plenty of cash to spend so it'll be interesting to see what happens on the recruitment front and how much pull Bennett still has. Also keen to see how much faith Richardson has in Bennett because last time he had a heap of money to throw around he arguably put Newcastle under a heap of pressure with some pretty poor and expensive acquisitions. It certainly shines a new light on Souths 2019 campaign.
At the start of the season, Sam was one of the form players of the competition. Sam was playing some of his best football under Bennett and Souths were a real handful with Sam tearing down both edges. At the end of the day, it was short lived and if the reports are to be believed, it was only five weeks into the season before his shoulder gave way. It all culminated in his final performance against Canberra where he was exposed badly in the middle.
It's going to be interesting to see the fall-out from Souths. When Bennett took the position, I doubt he envisioned losing Inglis, Sutton and S. Burgess all over the course of one season. That's a lot of experience walking away at once and they don't really have any ready made replacements. The dynamic of the side will have to change, so it will be interesting to see what moves Bennett makes.

Curious thing about Fifita and Frizzell as the obvious targets is neither of them are available right now, so it's anyone's guess what they do with all this spare cash for next year. Not spending it at all would be brave considering who they've lost through retirements this year that need replacing.
But front-ending some contracts with that cash will allow them to go on a Roosters'-like splurge for 2021.
I reckon front ending comes with risks. Players could look to take the money at the start then get restless at the backend. But front-ending some contracts with that cash will allow them to go on a Roosters'-like splurge for 2021.
