Oh it so is. I'd be letting Dearden go I think. He might end up really good but he isn't what we need right now it seems, unless he suddenly matures and becomes a confident game managing halfback in the next month that is. That said, if he wants to stay on a salary more accurate to his current standing, next to nothing that is, more than happy for him to stay. Right now, the club needs to go hard for a mature 7 and hopefully Dearden will recognise he needs to go back to Q Cup and develop out of the spotlight. Let Croft and Milford screw it up this season.

Hopefully when DD comes in mate we'll see changes the R&R department with actual plans.

Kev does know a thing or two about playing 5/8...
He may not be able to get Milford to do those things. Other coaches have failed in that department as well.
That is different to suggesting he doesn’t know what the role requires however and what sort of player might make a good fist of it.
Clearly we need change. Whether Staggs to 5/8 or not is a good idea, remains to be seen. Hopefully he might be able to slide into that position this year even if just in rotation, to get a look at him...

I understand it may feel like that but in reality Walsh couldn’t do anything until June 30 and by then if we played him we were developing a player for them. Whereas by getting Turner in return they gave us something they really shouldn’t have... dumb business on their behalf... theirs only speculation and not much proof but he has pretty good wraps on him and he’s 20... that’s gonna hurt them to release a 20 year old with so much potential and attacking flair for Walsh to be in their system and unlikely play for 6 months
if it’s Turner we receive that’s very poor business for them so I’d consider that a win within a loss (that being losing walsh)

I'm hoping it might be a reverse Beams trade to the Lions a few years ago. To get him over the line, the Lions sent Crisp to the Magpies as a set of steak knives. Crisp has gone on to become an elite player in his position. Maybe we might get lucky with whoever is coming.

I don’t know to much about AFL but Turner has got huge wraps on him the only thing is if he lives up to that potential... he’s on bugger all money and we were losing Walsh anyway so if he doesn’t big whoop... I think warriors stuffed this one up and like you said we have got lucky

Walsh is gone anyway ... no point getting him ready for the Warriors, if we can get something (even if the something is another talented, yet inconsistent spine player), the we should make the trade.
FTR, I don't know if Turner is a talented player or not, but a quick look over at the Warriors forum says he might be. they certainly don't want to lose him
I'm not a big supporter of the AFL, but wasn't Beams rated as an excellent trade (at least at the time it happened)

I just checked the warriors forum and they not only think Turner is a good player and their gutted but they also are adamant that Adam Reynolds is gonna sign there
... even we are wishful thinkers but it is a 1000 times more likely he will sign with us than them

The first time we paid overs. When we traded him back l, that was a massive in for the Lions as he cost a lot and was broken, barely got on the field for the Magpies in his second stint before retiring. He was mentally broken I should add due to his father passing away. So the second trade looked fair but in hindsight proved a massive win to the Lions.
