Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2022

Jake Clifford has been dropped for this weeks game.

Should we put the feelers out for him to play 6?
A guy can't make the team for a club going worse than us, and you think it would be smart to try and sign him?

Without mentioning how big his boot is, what is Clifford good at?

Imagine if he came out and said, I don’t want to move to NZ, I want out of warriors.
That's when the Warriors could be like nope if you don't want to come to NZ you can sit out a year, your decision was made before setting foot in the country.
His management probably told him to come out and hush the rumours.

Capewell uploaded a video on Insta saying he hadn't signed with the Broncos when he had.

Players say shit all the time.
He wasn't lying. The press was saying he'd come to terms with the Broncos. He was saying he hadn't signed. He wasn't saying he wasn't about to sign. Only that he hadn't yet signed.

It's not the same as the shenanigans the club put us through with Dearden, Lodge, TPJ and Isaako, where they outright lied continuously.

I can’t remember the timeline but wasn’t he announced within 10 days of him saying that?

The timing was he was in Origin camp the afternoon before the game, the press was alluding that he already signed with the Broncos, but wording it that "he'd come to terms." He did it via an Instagram story to shut everyone up so the main story was the Origin and not him. It had the opposite effect.

It's like you've chosen the ring, but haven't popped the question, and someone announces your engagement.

He was 100% lying.

On the 24th of June he posted a story on Instagram denying he had signed with the club
"Hey guys just a quick update on the conract situation,” Capewell said "Obviously the media are reporting that I’ve signed – I haven’t signed anywhere." “I won’t be making any decisions until after Origin. I’ve got bigger fish to fry this week on Sunday. “I’m gonna get out there and give it to the Blues. Thanks for all the messages of support anyway. Let’s go this weekend, go the Maroons.”"

So exactly 7 days later it's announced. Given they have to lodge them with the NRL and it has to be approved by the salary cap auditor, there's no way that entire process wasn't already done and he had not already signed on.

When he posted that he was within the 10 day cooling off period after signing so was 100% lying.

I mean I don’t give a **** and he is entitled to say whatever he wants and I would do the same thing in his situation, I just don’t see the point of you denying the obvious?

Whether he'd put pen to paper, was poised above it or was waiting for NRL approval, it's the same thing. The deal wasn't final.

We all knew we had him at the time, but it wasn't ready to be announced.

I really don't give a tinker's cuss. All I'm concerned with is he has missed another game for us.

We are looking decidedly bare in the second row. Even if Paikura was fit he's had very little footy so he's sort of off the table as well.

Hope TC can find some form without having to sit down for 10 minutes.

not to mention the club is not permitted to announce a new signing for 10 days anyway which means he signed with the club a minimum of 3 days before he made the instagram post

It was announced 7 days later. One would assume that would mean he had LITERALLY signed the paper as was already in the cooling off period, I assume that would be fairly hard to legitimately argue?

Would have been contract review by NRL auditor. They take 5-7 days.

I think he wanted some breathing space so he could tell his teammates before the media blabbed it. He got ambushed while he was away at Origin camp.

Saying you haven't signed YET isn't in the same category as a club making overtures about players not going anywhere, being the future of the club, in our plans, etc etc when they're in process of kicking them out the door. The Lodge/TPJ farce was embarrassing for everyone involved.

So we poach the Rabbitoh's coach and they take ours. The we flick Kodi Nikorima to the Warriors. After that tack fails, we flick the Rabbitoh's coach and poach the Rabbitohs halfback. And now the Rabbitohs are poaching Kodi:

So long as he signs after Thursday.

No one would argue any of that but you said:

"He wasn't lying. The press was saying he'd come to terms with the Broncos. He was saying he hadn't signed. He wasn't saying he wasn't about to sign. Only that he hadn't yet signed."

So he had clearly already signed, the rest would have been normal process and cooling off period but regardless, he would have had to have clearly already literally signed.

A lot of smoke regarding Munster.

Slim slim slim chance , and probably not going to happen, but if you get a chance to sign the Aus 6 , you take it.

Never know with DD
