What was TMM’s front line defence like when he played 5/8th? I like him at fullback where he can focus more energy on attack.

I'll be very surprised if Tesi becomes even an average NRL fullback. He's all hype and no substance so far.

There's your substance HeHe

I wonder if there was any interest from the Broncos in Niko for the rest of the season at 5/8. He would have been a perfect foil for Reyno at the right price, in the Walker vein. Surely wouldn't have cost much.

I don't see how he fits in at Souths at all, unless maybe interchange hooker, or they are doing something silly like Walker to FB.🤷‍♂️

I reckon he's got 14 written all over him.

Tesi is some hype, some substance. There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that TMM has been MILES ahead of Tesi since coming in but let's not act like Tesi has nothing about him. He is massively flawed but he has some decent attacking ability, let's be fair.

Disagree

Tesi has the skillset and build of a 5/8. Dude is way too wide to be doing the amount of running that an NRL fullback does.

Tesi at 5/8th would be a very poor man’s version of Anthony Milford.

His 2021 try scoring record speaks for itself

Tesi Niu: 8 from 16
Jamayne Isaako: 6 from 18
Jesse Arthars: 6 from 17
David Mead: 5 from 12
Herbie Farnworth: 3 from 20

What am I meant to gain from this?

Integrity.
How is a fullback scoring some tries meant to convince me he has anything in attack? The try in your post wasn’t even good. Tesi has scored better tries than that.

I counted 11 fullbacks that had a better strike rate than Tesi in 2021

Tries are the only thing that matters in rugby league. Scoring them, setting them up and stopping them. If you're not doing that, you're just pissing around.

I keep hearing how tries don't prove anything. Actually, they prove EVERYTHING.

First try of Tesi's I found. Most have been deleted because of copyright.

There are heaps of other important factors otherwise no one would be complaining about Fifita.

He hasn’t even caused that many tries considering his position. As I said 11 fullbacks had a higher strike rate than he did last year.

Fifita got the big money purely because he scores tries. Defence is cheap.

agree and he's still a kid; let him learn off TMM and get some runs in cup and go from there.
