This requires succession planning, something we have sucked at for more than 20 years. I completely agree with you and have made an earlier post saying much the same thing. If not, we need to buy Dearden or similar back.
Gray is still in grade 12- he's not going to be ready when Reynolds finishes.

I don't see any reason why Gamble can't learn to be a quality half. Just force him to do extended kicking sessions for the next few years and he would be pretty good by the time Reynolds is gone.

A quality 6, yes, but not a halfback. We should have learned with Milford that you can't force a temperament or mindset on someone, not at the elite level. A controlling halfback needs to be patient, measured and consistent. Gamble plays best off the cuff and injecting his energy when he spots an opportunity.

I have loved watching Gray this year and think he's had an awesome season in MM but to think a Year 12 is going to be NRL ready by the end of 24 is fanciful. If he was a outside back or even forward- not hooker then yeah you could but not a 6.

I think you should be identifying halves that are about 20 (give or take) now, so they are about 23/24 when they take over
Should be interesting to see how harradyn wilson comes along at souths logan. We could always approach josh James again at the end of his contract as he was starting to look pretty good alongside mam. I have mentioned jock madden before who is currently stuck at 18th, 19th man at the tigers behind brooks, Hastings and doulhei. He has a pretty decent boot on him and is a traditional organising half.
He has had a couple errors in him early in his first grade career trying to do too much in a struggling team but with an apprenticeship under reynolds he could be a viable option

Josh James seemed very no none sense and a decent organiser and kicker. I thought a few years under Reynolds could make him a decent option outside an exciting 6 like Munster, Mam, or Gray. I was quite surprised when we didn’t bother with him. Better judges than I must not have been impressed.
This season made him a 6 for me.

We have some exciting 6's coming through, I just thought if Gamble simplified his role and improved his kicking game he might be a good option. We already know he's a great talker on the field.
We got to see him doing some halfback work when Reynolds went off against the Sharks last week.

Gamble himself said he’s used to being the one running a team, which like you said showed when Reynolds went off and he showed it a bit last year. I’m not surprised he’s not making a huge impact playing second-fiddle when he’s not used to it.
I don’t think he’ll be a world beater but I do think he can be better than what people think of him. Consistency is going to be key with him, even within games
