With one of Lynn, S. Marsh or Finch to come into the squad if Clarke doesn't get up
I think there was a bit in it for the bowlers. on Day 1, Day 2 and early on Day 3 there was a bit of bounce and movement. the pitch rewarded bowlers who were smart and discipline (which was none of the Indian pacemen) and likewise rewarded batsmen who had good footwork.
the only problem I saw...
I doubt he would have but Clarke is also the best captain in world cricket at the moment. he is ballsy and ferocious to the point of lunacy. it is a tall order to be compared to Clarke, especially when Clarke should probably be remembered as one of the best Australian captains (tactically and as...
but we weren't bowling against the worst batting tail in cricket. We were bowling against Ashwin and Dhoni who average 36 and 38 with the bat ... that's basically the equivalent of Watson and Rogers (I'm trying to be complementary to Watson here).
if we had actually managed to get into the tail...
but where have we neutered our bowling strength? we got 20 wickets in Adelaide and 20 wickets in Brisbane. this is the first time in the series that we have failed to get India out completely. Melbourne is the only pitch that was really flat and even today, we could have got 20 wickets if 1. we...
but was this actually the curators's fault? Usually you want a wicket that seams about at the start and then flattens out into a good batting wicket before starting to fall apart and turn into a landmine on Day 4 and Day 5. the problem was that because Melbourne was so cold this week (when...
could the (only) silver lining of this be that people shut the **** up about Inglis or any other QLDer with semi-debatable eligibility. if you're going to nick Keary then you can't possible whinge about anything that has happened before
I thought Woods played really well after being bad for a lot of this year. I agree with the rest though. not that it is surprising that inexperienced youngsters are struggling at Test level ... unless you're Tim Sheens.
that was an excellent game to watch. I'm stunned by how quick Mamo was. i'm betting that he'll be a regular for Newcastle next year if he wasn't already this year
yes I agree. there is nothing wrong with chopping and changing positions during the game as long as it is prepared and practiced beforehand. It usually ends badly because it is something thrown together at the last minute or as a desperation move.
for a referee who is generally alright 90% of the time, when Cummins makes a mistake it is a huge **** ups. I'd love to see him gone. there are a lot of referees around who might not be quite as good at their best but they don't have as many huge clangers as Cummins.
Wow, it looks like Maranta is going to play two weeks in a row at fullback. i wanted Maranta to get antoher shot at the start of the year but it you told me this was going to happen, I'd have told you to go easy on the beer.
