I agree. He is unfit at the vest of times let alone when not getting a game. At his peak fitness he is great but rarely hits it until late in the season. Not sure if he is lazy injury prone or both. I would have picked both Kuols. Not sure we have much upfront to score goals and Alou at least brings some x factor.

The best thing we have going is our experience in the conditions. If we can jag a draw with France or at most a one goal defeat we are a slim chance to get second

Zero hope with this team, I feel Australian soccer has gone backwards with A league being around, compare it to 2006 where most of our team was playing in the premier league, now most of them are in A league or another Asian league it's been a big downfall, don't know if it's because A league is professional it's stopped players trying to go to Europe or what not but our quality has dropped massively.

I just don't think the FFA take it that seriously.

I get the feeling we're happy to just be there and if we don't make the knockout stages, it's no biggie. We still get paid for making it.

Back in '06, there was that desire to end the drought and make the WC and to put Australia on the football map. But ever since then, it feels like the attitude has changed.

The A-League is trash these days, very low quality. Australia used to always produce some top class players who performed at the highest level ( Johnston, Cahill, Viduka, Kewell, Bosnich etc ) but i dont see at top class Australian anywhere these days.
 
For those interested, SBS On Demand have uploaded a bunch of classic games.

They currently have replays of the Australia vs Japan and Australia vs Croatia matches in '06. Plus a whole bunch of others from the 80's, 90's, 00's etc.

I could watch Cahill's double against Japan over and over again.
 
I really expected every nation and confederation besides maybe Asia to boycott this and I would have been very happy about it. FIFA is a joke. However, not even a single player or coach has pulled out, so if they're going to play, I will be watching.

Messi deserves a world cup. He's already the GOAT but it would be nice for people to STFU about how he hasn't won a world cup.

Yes, because he's done it week to week/year to year. Just because Gonzalo Higuain can't finish and others have had a 4 week form burst at the right time shouldn't hurt Messi's claim to being the best ever.

TBf, there are plenty of players who do what Messi does. It all depends on what peoples criteria is for being the GOAT. Is it skill? Is it how good the player is in his position? You could argue that somebody like Peter Schmiechel for example is every bit as good as Maradona, Zidane, Brazilian Ronaldo, Messi, Other Ronaldo etc were in their positions yet he would never come into the equation of being the goat.
