Beale has certainly bulked up, he should be getting first crack in regards to the centre spot with Gagai or Kemp besides him.

I think Copley should get first crack ant the center spot
 
I'd be happy with whoever showed better form in the trials to be honest..
 
I'm right with you PETERN.

Although with that said I suspect Copley will get the nod, probably doesn't have all the bells and whistles Beale has but has all the basics down pat.
 
I'm not sure what bells and whistles Beale has. I've seen very little from him that makes him any different to any other youngster.
 
Agree with Coxy. Beale has shown some good signs but I think overall Copley has been the most impressive of the two.
 
Coxy, Beale is more of a playmaker than Copley - has a better kicking/passing game. Neither are neccesary for a centre but can come in handy.

We don't need a half we need a centre. Copley is far better in that position than Beale IMO.
 
Yes I know but these aspects of his game do come into consideration.

For instance, a key component of a centres game is being able to set up their outside man. Beale has more options available than Copley does.

Meh. Copley is a pretty classical centre. Beale I think is a fullback ideally. And he ain't Hoffman.

Beale is a versatile player, but doesn't excell at any position, much like Glenn, and even then I prefer the latter...
 
I'm not disagreeing with you Coxy.

AuDragon - Pretty much. At this stage his best chance of making the side is at centre but I see him being behind Hodges/Copley this year and Whitchurch come next year.
 
Henjak is pleased with how Beale and others have taken to the challenge.

"Gerard's flying at the moment but Jack Reed from Norths is going really well and putting on some pressure as is young Gagai," Henjak said.

"We've got guys like Dane Carlaw, Alex Glenn, Ben Te'o and Matt Gillett who are all options.

"It'll all unfold when we get close to the trials.

"Young Reed from the Queensland Cup hasn't missed a beat, he looks like he's been here for 10 years.

"Trial form is going to be crucial.

I think it is a moot argument anyway as I reckon if Gagai doesn't get first crack, he'll certainly be finishing the season there.

I agree to an extent but I think both of these players are more effective in the back row. I think Glenn did a good enough job last season to stay in the centres if Ivan is reluctant to give one of the kids a go. In saying that, I think Glenn on the bench as the utility, with Gillett as the back rower, and two props, is pretty much the perfect bench.
