Broncos High Performance Centre

Seems like the might Broncos machine is up and firing again. Let the good times roll.

Yep, effectively this is just a grant and it only goes towards the Sports Medicine clinic I believe.
 
That's a lot of coin just for the Broncos.

Surely it would have to be a State/Federal government owed asset leased to the Broncos and other local sporting teams as a high performance centre (like Suncorp Stadium)

$50M just for the Brissie Broncos seems a bit exorbinant

You're misreading. Govt funding is $5m from the Fed government (under Abbott), plus the land being "donated" (free long term lease) by the State Govt.

The rest of the $45m development cost will have to be raised by the Broncos (Leagues + Football). Which shouldn't be too hard.
 
Raised by them? As if they haven't got that money in the bank already!

I don't believe the $50m figure quoted in that article is correct, it's closer to the $20m mark.
 
Just for a comparison, the lions and afl conned the federal government out of $15m for their new base at springwood.
 
What would be the $$ value of that pieced of land?
 
Lions' new ground and set up is at Springfield- it's the same land the NRL was going to use but Lions got in first.

Ipswich City Council is a major stakeholder.

Only the gym is orginal, everything else was redeveloped, when it was done Benny said the gym doesn't get modernised- new gyms make soft people is his rule, so no air con, no tv, no fancy equipment. The redevelopment was done around the gym- upstairs is video room, pool room and table tennis with somewhere to sleep as well and all the staff offices and downstairs is gym, lockers and two pools.

It's a great facility and nothing is missing that the players could need.
