THE NRMA Insurance Broncos have today granted a release to former under-20s captain Brett Grienke.

Grienke has obtained an opportunity at another NRL club, with the Broncos’ to continue their policy of not standing in the way of players’ aspirations.

The 22-year-old has been playing Intrust Super Cup with the Norths Devils this season and played for the Queensland Residents on the weekend.

Chief executive Paul White said the club wished only the best of luck to a fine young man.

“Brett came up through our development program and captained our under-20s to a National Youth Competition grand final in 2014,” said White.

“He has also worked in our school-based mentoring program with Indigenous students.

“We are very sad to see him go but wish him all the best for his future and would certainly love to see him back at the club one day.”

wonder who he is going to
hopefully not a club that is stacked in the forward anyways like penrith

Good on him for taking the opportunity, he's a solid player, I just hope that he's got a starting spot wherever he's going, would hate to see a good young player leave to just be a NSW / QLD cup player at some other club.

On the brightside, that's a spot in our top 25 for Su'a, and an easier pathway to first grade for him.

Edit: He's signed with Souths, so.. no starting spot.

might be getting radradra after all

"cue Danny Odowd to come in and say we are replacing him with an international superstar

Yep, just confirmed by Souths.

It makes sense for them, considering they're losing Grevsmuhl next year and Sutton & Turner are constantly injured.

So we are a fringe player down now. I wonder if Bennett is looking at any more cheap forwards before 30th June

If anything I think this move means that Bennett is well aware that Arrow, Pangai & Su'a are the 3 guys we need to be holding on to and clearing a pathway for.

First Timu and now Greinke, he's clearing out the ones he doesn't think will make it.

Is this where we take the Greenhouse's lead, and cry?

Souffs are a good side to go to. Their forward pack is awful.

I find the comment in the article about not standing in players way quite interesting considering i know of a player who was recently refused a release. Maybe they should word it we wont stand in the way of players we dont want!

Could you let us in of who it was?

Who? Don't half tell us information.

I cant really say who it is, i knew i would get in trouble for posting that!

You can believe it or not, i wont take offence on anyone calling me out on it! I dont blame people if they are sceptical, i would be. All i can say is it isnt a forward!
