It was quite telling how Herbie 'brushed' big Oatesy when he got up after scoring his try. If you watch he deliberately turns away from him as he gets up to celebrate.

When Oatesy made that break down field Herbs was running unmarked on his inside shoulder but Oatesy refused to pass. Herbie did it a few times to Oates as well.

That sort of shit needs to be addressed ASAP.

Yeah I noticed those things too and wondered if something was up. Plus someone said something about Oates talking about cutout passes pre-game.

I think you're reading too much into things.

Oates was stoked for Herbie's try and Oates was trying to get it to Herbie but he had a defender right on him so it was going to be a very difficult pass.

I also noticed from the front on view on the big break by Herbie that Oates moved to go inside Herbie, was then behind him and then went to his outside... I wouldnt be surprised if Herbie just had no idea where Oates was.

He was also looking inside but there was a defender on the inside man.

I thought the kick was on for that break... Herbie is a decent kicker on those breaks and we had 3 players going for it and the fullback about to be taken out of play

He's worth an upgrade if he's on something $200-250K now. I'd offer him $300 -350K tops to sty. If he wants more I'd say jog on mate.

The thing is he needs to develop the skill of passing to his winger. Once he perfects that he'll be close to being an elite centre. Until then he can be costly. But some of his defence and kick returns last night were outstanding.

I think the issue is that he's not one of the very elite centres but this season he's definitely been a point of difference for us, the first Bulldogs game comes to mind

So with that, I think there will be a few clubs prepared to pay more than 300-350k

Herbie just posted a Instagram photo hugging Oates and Paix after a try with the quote “love these guys”. Oates just shared it before on his Instagram. I think your reading way way too much into whatever you think you saw.

If anything makes me think Herbie might re-sign. Fingers crossed

Shit. All three to the Dolphins…

My chocolate sauce tells me Haas is trying to convince Fifita to come back to us next year, who isn't loving life on the coast, I reckon we can afford to pay him around the 700k, and I think the Titans would be willing to release him.

It would very likely involve us releasing Riki to Melbourne though.

so im not hearing a no

Ill Be Back Jim Carrey GIF

I'd like to see him back here but if Walsh snubs us, it says more about him than the Broncos. If he's really set on returning to Brisbane then surely the club that released him from a rookie contract to allow him to earn more money and get experience at first grade level should be getting extra consideration?

Do not like.

Sounds plausible, but I think Riki is well worth keeping. He does double the work off the ball than what Fifita does and he is just beginning to acclimatize to the day to day grind of the NRL. His game still has much more to offer. Fifita at $700K would be a bit too much to justify letting Riki go if he was priced well under that.

I have my reservations about him as a player and I like Riki, but Fifita could easily be the best backrower in the game with some attitude adjustment and coaching so I don't hate the idea either.
I agree, but I don't think he has it in him. I'm sick of carrying lazy players. We don't need that, we need players who put in 100% every week and Riki does that in spades. We also don't want to unbalance the squad when we desperately need more from our spine (though after the past 2 weeks that talk has settled).

We don't need more Dave Taylors and Anthony Milfords. Fifi is going right down that same path from what I've seen, which is a crying shame because he is an absolute gun. Maybe his heart was never with the Titans and bringing him home would make all the difference? I don't know, and I don't know if I want to take the risk.

I'm an unabashed Riki fan as well, I love what he brings despite his flaws/errors.

I fucking hope not, I will lose my shit if this happens.
