He's not in Tom Flegler's class:You are kidding yourself if you don't think Herbie is one of our most threatening players
Footwork so good it put his own winger on his assHe's not in Tom Flegler's class:
Oh yeah, I'm not suggesting we change anything. It was just commenting that it is interesting based on the left hand/right hand carry discussion earlier, that both our wingers are then actually playing on the side of the field that they should in theory be worse at.I wouldn't **** with either edge or fullback for the time being.
Te Maire isn't perfect at fullback but he's solid, he's elusive and he can chime into the backline. Leave him be.
Selwyn is growing in stature every week. Here's one reason he stays on right:
Kotoni is now rated the best centre in the NRL. Not shifting him anywhere.
Corey has scored 6 tries on the left, and he's done it outside a guy who won't pass to him. Leave him there.
Herbie is the only problem child. He can't pass, kick or dummy but he's not dropping balls or leaking tries. We can get around his inadequacies by cutting him out of backline movements. Which is essential. Moving him to another position will only weaken that position and potentially the left edge defence. Leave him be for now.
Capewell and Riki are for a different discussion but only Riki is under fire there, and I think unfairly. But he's easily interchanged.
We don't need to muck around with any of these players until Niu returns. That's going to be interesting.
My point was making cobbo 4 left centre, and herbie right wing. There is a who fella on the roster who plays on the right .
Made the Selwyn left Herbie right dilemma real tricky .
You might of heard of him ? Goes by the name of Kotoni the toe sucker ?
Yes .My point was making cobbo 4 left centre, and herbie right wing.
You're not wrong there. He is the devil incarnate in the eyes of the NRL after all. There is a hell of a player inside Flegs.
Yea 100%. Unless something changes, I still see Cobbo as a winger (at least for a few more years). TMM is doing well there, and should hopefully only get better as time goes on.I'm hearing a lot of people discussing future full-back options - stop gaps until Cobbo is ready etc.
Is everybody completely dismissing TMM as an option? He's still relatively young at 26, but has some experience and also some life experience and maturity about him given what he has gone through.
Why not tell him that he's the FB moving forward and get him growing into the role? He's a lot closer than any of our other current options and I can't see Walsh coming back. TMM gives us the ball playing option from the back and with Arey and TMM being the ball players - it would give a running, off the cuff 6 more opportunity to play their natural game.
If Herbie leaves - what's wrong with something like this from next season?
1. TMM
2. Oates
3. Cobbo
4. Staggs
5. Pereira
6. Mam
7. Reynolds
Jonty Rhodes may disagree with you.Walsh for sure. This time last year, Kevvie couldn't see him as a first grader. A year later he's the first player the camera heads towards at the end of a match. He's wasted at the Warriors.
I wonder about Walker. He's obviously a massive talent for his age, but the choice to pursue Dearden instead might not pan out to have been the wrong one. We completely had the measure of Walker last time we met. Not so much Dearden, which I think surprised a lot of folk around these parts.
The best thing Herbie's done this season - along with Oates and Capewell - is to have built a brick wall on that side of the field. But like I keep saying, no matter how good his defence is, no one pays a premium for it. It's like fielding in cricket. It's just a box that gets ticked.
In my opinion, Jesse Arthars is a far more effective attacking centre than Herbie. He'd have put more points on the board for us than Herbie. But he'd also have let more through.
So by my reckoning, use Jesse Arthars as a guide for valuing Herbie.
Tell us what you really think?Walsh... Walsh...Walsh...
**** that little cocaine whore!!!
That traitor shit can stay the **** away!!!
Be nice to see us for once follow a real development plan. Let them play through the levels and when they are playing consistently well in Queensland Cup give them a shot.
Can't see anything wrong with that at all.I'm hearing a lot of people discussing future full-back options - stop gaps until Cobbo is ready etc.

If we return to being a top 4 side and threatening each year for the premiership, they will want to stay.I feel every time we try to they get overhyped like stupid and pressure is applied from the talking heads in the media, the fans that are now aware of them and blow smoke up their arses on social media, and other clubs that come sniffing and usually end up taking half our players
So we either kowtow to outside pressure to play a player well before they’re 100% ready and consistently excelling in QCup, or we try and keep them in reserve grade and they get restless knowing clubs will give them a guaranteed spot and/or more money, regardless if it’s good for their football or not
Hopefully Mozer and Gray are different, as has been reported they seem to be quite level-headed guys.
For the record, I still think our pathways are dogshit as far as making kids want to be at the club and actually stay. No one wants to be a bronco anymore when they never get to be one until first grade unless they’re a fan as a kid and even then it’s 50-50 at best
