I can only think of a couple of positions that would be contentious. A centre spot with the pearl, 5/8 (Lewis or Walters with Locky fullback - personally I went for overall talent rather than time served for us), and a couple on the bench. Every think else picks itself. You could also throw up a wing spot if you liked tuqiri better than sailor or hancock.

With all due respect to Robster, who I admire for putting this together, I feel that proviso is unnecessary. People should realise if a player is up for two positions, they should vote for their preferred position.

Otherwise it's just wasting time.

Lockyer should be the exception to the rule. He's the best player of the modern era, imo. He won the golden boot award for two separate positions. Apart from Thurston with the half positions has any other player achieved that feat? I think Lockyer should be an exception.

No one rocks a bigger hard on for locky than me, but this is a 'best team'. He can only get picked in one position

I don't necessarily disagree. For me, I'm mainly just focusing on the "best" part of the phrase rather than the "17."

Was Lockyer the best fullback we've produced? Imo, yes.

Was Lockyer the best five-eighth we've produced? Imo, yes.

Lockyer was our most successful fullback. Walters was our most successful 5/8.
