just read that 1 of the broncos 20's stars is leaving on a 2 year mormon mission. thoughts? any examples of returning mormons that have really lit up the comp since returning? i know hoppa jnr is due at parra next year. im not religious but i couldnt fathom leaving a top paying priviledged position so early and risk it all

Lagi Setu warming the bench for Easts.

Jordan Rapana trying to get a run with the Raiders too. Although he's not a former Broncos player.

Can't think of any other high profile players who've done a mission and come back.

I think the Mormon church is basically a collection of loonies wearing magic underwear but it is nice to see people who take their faith seriously enough to give up two years of their life for it.

Caleb is gone, Friends with his brother, who I went to school with, has put it on facebook, off to NZ for 2 years.

Cheers for the confirmation Locky24. I noticed he posted a message on Twitter about his upcoming mission.

From a fan's perspective it's disappointing. However, this is obviously something that means a lot to him and I can't begrudge him seeking personal development and wish him all the best.

I just hope if he wants to play footy after his mission he comes back to us. Can't begrudge him for doing his mission.

Hook wouldn't have picked him in the next 2 years anyway

I know Hannent is a morman, don't know if he went on a mission though.

He'll probably get picked up by another club, like most of these mermaids.

I think it's an awful shame personally, a waste of life and talent.

I am interested to see how William Hopoate goes at the Eels next year, of all the young Mormons to go on a mission he has looked the most promising to me before leaving. Unfortunately for him, he is going to Parra. I'd have much more confidence in his ability to bounce back if he was going to a better club whose coach didn't suck.

Shits me that he said that he wants to go play Union when he finished his mission. Cheers mate.
