Interesting question and responses. For me Lockyer redefined an entire position. Fullback from a safe custodian who could support the ball to a genuine ball playing member of the spine. Carried a team. Best fullback I've seen and second best five eight after the king.
Smith helped define a club and an era. Best hooker probably ever to play the game. Led a dynasty for Queensland. Agree helped build Melbourne to a genuine powerhouse making average players better (although big 3 or 4 didn't hurt). But a lot to answer for re his leadership and participation in Storm salary cap cheating and bringing wrestling into NRL. Wonder what he does to a team culture on the inside?
