Leader of the pack!

I rate Parker as a real good club player but I don't think he is a "leader of the pack". I know every forward pack leader doesn't have to be a meat-eating, chest thumping gorilla but to me Parker doesn't really instill fear or demand respect from the opposition. He goes about his business and does a wonderful job - the workhorse role and he has been in pearl form the past couple of years.

However, call me old school but I love the enforcer role in the forward pack and IMO it is an important ingredient of a football team. GT was the BEST. Absolute fear into the opposition with no backward step...

IMO we need a bit on an enforcer in the Broncos pack... thoughts?

We definitely need someone to lead by example. Some would argue a workhorse does that, but more than that we need someone who does the work but also comes up with an inspirational hit up or tackle that lifts his teammates at a crucial time.

Parker doesn't do that.

The only one in our current pack who does that or is capable is Sam Thaiday.

However, Hannant and Civoniceva are also capable, should we get either of them back. And I can see Lui developing into an inspiration like that. But that'll be a few years away.

I loved Tallis, he used to hurl people over the sideline all the time. It was funny and great to watch. No one fits under that description at the moment. Setu was rated like this, but so far hasn't delivered.

Setu hasnt shown anything that would make me think he is even 1/10 the Player Tallis was. Setu will be gone this year i hope.

Actually Setu reminds me more of Tunza .... but still lacks that vital ingredient as you said ... heart

You're right - but no-one else came to the front of my mind when I was thinking of "mongrel" players.

TC scared the opposition with his defence. That's about it. Not much "mongrel" to him though. Didn't have that sort of aggression raging through him.

Yeah. As good a ball runner as he was, if he was charging at you in defence you wouldn't shit yourself. With Tallis you shit yourself! LOL

As for similar enforcers who didn't have cheap shots in their game....I'm stumped if I can think of one either! LOL

Tongue is certainly no enforcer .... he is more of the Dallas Johnson or Corey Parker type of player

Yes, but doesn't have that aura of fear. Certainly a never say die player though. His chasing is phenomenal. Broncos take note!
