Depends on the contract I think. They may only have bought rights to show it on news. But even if they can use that same footage - it's still pretty limited footage.

And the players can do whatever they want in an unoffical NRL role.

This is true, I don't think getting the players will be an issue.

Okay, so Nein plays the dickhead card and Seven can't use their footage. At least Fauxtel should be more flexible since Seven has an indirect stake in it.

The trick might be that any teams sponsored by Nine or their affiliates (Newcastle and Dragons spring to mind) might be threatened with loss of sponsorship if their players or staff appear on the MJ show.

I just hope that they don't let Nein bend them over and ream them on the rights like they have the last couple of times. The game needs a decent pay to provide some cash at the grass roots level.

Yeah well "people" are calling him the next Paul Hogan. I wasn't old enough to see the Paul Hogan Show when it was on, but from clips I've seen and things I've heard it was a bunch of comedy sketches. If they are comparing this show to that then it is obviously nothing to do with footy outside that some of the players will appear.

I think the title gives what it's about away, it's not called 'Matthew Johns talks football," it's called "The Matty Johns Show," which implies to me that it will be sfa football and more Matt Johns sketches.
