Tomorrow afternoon at 4pm (3pm for us Queenslanders) they're playing the Round 26 game vs. Parramatta Eels from 2005.

Parra ended up winning but the Broncos didn't go down quietly with Barnes and Thaiday leading the charge.

Want to see Andrew Gee kick a 40/20? At 8pm on FoxSports 2 (Qld time) you can!

Damn it I wish I had foxtel just for tonight I so enjoyed that and not to mention Brad Thorn's effort in 2000 against the Sharks to win us the game in the dying seconds.

Great game.

Sterlo summed the story up well. Technically it wasn't the Broncos best performance, but the character they showed to stick in there and take their opportunities gave them the win.

Few notes...

- Team was a bit of a mish-mash really. Lockyer and Langer controlled things nicely but the backline (aside from Tuqiri) were rocks or diamonds and our forward pack was tempermental. Gee truly was the forward leader that night, instead of pussy footing around like the rest of them he just ran it forward and tackled hard. (as well as kicking one of the most random 40/20's you'll see)

- Can't stand Simpkins. Tried to play the invisible man and the amount of stuff he missed (mostly to the advantage of the Broncos) was quite appalling.

- Weird seeing Bellamy as a trainer, he seemed much calmer those days.

- Story of Ryan's career, got injured before he really got to show what he was capable of.

- I really don't know what to make of Lee. From what I saw, dude had the talent to become a talented ball playing lock ala Young but injuries crueled him before he could tighten his game. Average night from him but you could see the skills were there.

- On the Knights, geez Joey played incredibly well that night. Excellent kicking game, running game and passing game. Perry and Parsons were both good but the rest showed no back bone. Newton was arguably one of the Broncos best and both Gids were as bad as each other.

- 37K was considered a great crowd, funny how the club can pull those crowds fairly easily these days. Shows what a great stadium can do for business.

How can you sum up that game without a massive prop to Mick De Vere? Geez he had a blinder that night.

That try he scored was fantastic, he also put on a couple of good tackles...but I really didn't think he was that great. Don't get me wrong, going in, my biggest memory was of De Vere's performance but colour me merely satisfied.

Hard to pick a man of the match though. Honestly I thought Johns put in the best performance of any player but the Broncos were the better side. Best Bronco would have to be Locky or Gee.

Clint Newton dropped the ball in the 22nd minute and it hit his foot on the way down. Ref called knock on. AP wouldve been blowing up!!!!

[icon_lol1. Newton was brilliant.

To be fair to AP, he was arguing that the ball went backwards off Slaters hands and went forwards ala Hodgson Origin 3 2006.

Locky's tackle in the opening ten against I think it was Morris was awesome. Morris made the break beat Locky only for him to come back on the line and grab him and pull him back into the field of play!

Brilliant work by Locky and again it personified the character we had that night.

That opening set by the Broncos was brilliant too, 4 good runs followed by an excellent kick by Lockyer that traps the Knights in goal. Unfortunately it was all undone by a great goal line drop out by Johns who positioned it perfectly for Abraham to regather.

A couple of good tackles? You're a hard man to please.

As you said, Johns was playing great, and giving his backs plenty of opportunities, and De Vere shut them down EVERY time.

It really wasn't that noticeable until the second half Cox. Even then it wasn't EVERY time like you stated.

His performance certainly typified the Broncos that night, but I thought Lockyer and Gee were superior on the night.

EDIT: Of course that's solely my own opinion based on one replay, it's not like I've analysed the game so your point might hold more weight Cox. It wasn't right of me to dismiss you like I did.

Tonight 6.30 on Fox - Broncs take on the Doggies - Round 9 -2005 - see the magic that is Darren Lockyer at his best ...

and the flying Leon Bott

Good game that, it was on Fox about a year or so ago...

Only points I remember...

Commentry team complains about a no try decision against Hughes for AGES

The last try is awesome.

Stagg suffers a REALLY nasty head knock, Minto also gets knocked out.

Real good game though, defs worth checking out.

Speaking of 2005, I'm just up to the game where Bott scores a hat-trick...geez that was a weird ol' season.

Ah, I miss Botty.

He may have been lacking in certain departments, but boy could he run!
