Parramatta Eels

I was walking down the road the other day and saw a Parramatta season ticket nailed to a fence.
I thought, ,"I'll have that."

You never know when you may need a nail.

Bahaha

Parra: come for the money, stay cos your reputation is ruined

I think Parra's issue are just the cumulation of years of mismanagement. They've dug themselves into a massive hole and without a wholesale clear out they will end up on the bottom of the ladder for a while yet. And they've got to accept that rebuilding the club will take time.

No leadership on and off the field. You know your team is in trouble when Hayne and Manure are your co captains

They must be one of (if not the) worst teams if the modern era.

How has it come to this? IMO by letting nearly all your quality juniors go elsewhere whilst paying massive overs for highly over-rated players.

Agree with beads they need quality forwards. No offence to Tim Mannah (the guy seems like a champ) but when he is your best forward then there is a problem.

As for their signings. I know nothing of the two poms but the fact that they don't 'have a name' for themselves within an inferior comp would be a concern. As for Norman, his best position is fullback and he is going there to play five eight... He will be an improvement on Ben Roberts, but hey who wouldn't be?

Kind of agree with this, he does make 10-15 hitups and 100-150 meters each week but most of his runs he just carries the ball forward for minimal yardage and doesn't attempt an offload or anything. I have lots of respect for him though since he has lost his brother and he seems like a champion bloke as well.

I live pretty close to parra stadium and some good mates are eels fans so i see a lot of their games. Used to a be a team i really hated, especially early 2000's, so often cheered for the opposition but its hard for me to still hate them after years of being so bad, especially when there are more deserving teams of my anger like the Storm, Bulldogs and Souths.

Agree that hooker is a problem, Keating is a dud. Kinda like Canberra they never seem to have a decent hooker which holds them back. they also put their eggs in a few signing baskets over the last few years which didn't pay off like Justin Poore, Tonga and Sandow. Not to mention the overs they are probably shelling out for Hayne. this means they are constantly carrying a few lower grade quality players in the side which the other players cant carry.

I think they are trying to recover as a club, Hoppa could be a great signing assuming he gets back to speed quickly, he was a gun player his last year at Manly. They have been in the player market, just not successfully and unlucky to get knocked back by Papali after initial agreement. Their recruitment has not been unlike ours, we have just walked away rather than pay overs.

I'm going to be really interested to see how Norman goes. I was someone happy to see him leave the Broncos but i kind of want him to succeed at parra as long as it is not against the Broncos.

They have a fairly loyal fanbase that supports them regardless even though they know their team is rubbish. They also have a massive band wagon support demographic so if Ricky can build the team, the people will come.

As for an earlier comment, i think Hayne would make an excellent centre in a Jamie Lyon type role. I dont think he makes a good captain however.

They desperately need to fix their entire forward pack. It's horrific. Outside of Mannah, I don't think they have a single decent workhorse.

Yeah, work on their foward pack, probably their backs as well, maybe their halves and probably a new captain.

Dead-set they're an ordinary team.

Infact, let's be honest, aside from their mirage of form in late 09, they've been an ordinary team for years now.

What's the go with them? Why are they so terrible? Personnel? Culture? What is it and how do they go about fixing it?

obviously their problems run deeper than one individual but I think Jarrod Hayne is just a bad seed at that place .. he's a senior player at that club now but always has a sooky sullen look about him and does some unbelieveably selfish things on the field like getting up ultra-slow to play the ball with his team right on the attack when he thinks he's been dudded by the referee for a penalty .. I look at a guy like him and just think how that on-field crap must carry over into his general attitude off the field too and become a bad influence on the whole joint..

The Blues at least have him figured out - they clearly don't want to touch him unless they're backed into a corner with selections ... that says it all because the guy is an absolute super freak as a footballer when he WANTS to be ...

Their recruitment is ridicilous they sign overrated players for absurd amounts (Chris Sandow, Carl Webb, Chris Walker) dinosaurs like Willie Tonga and players that won't be playing for a year...Will Hopoate (if anyone knows what Hoppa was signed for can they point it out)
