This bit always pisses me of. Yes I remember the comment along with the Johns one and yes they made a racial comment but they are not racists. Almost everyone in the world has said the wrong thing before which they regret. Both Gallen and Johns came out afterwards and said this themselves.

Where I'm from there was a fair Aboriginal population around and the amount of times i've heard black indigenous people say "fucking white *****" would far outnumber it the amount of times i've heard it said in the Gallen/Johns way and was meant to be malicious, derogatory, upsetting etc. I've copped racial abuse from people like this before.

Nobody has called Gallen a racist. What was implied by Cult3's comment is that he's had his career scarred with racism.

Fortunately for him, he learned his lesson, paid his fine and the game seemingly moved on. He was forgiven, but that action was never forgotten nor should it be. Those type of comments don't have any place in the game.

I don't think we'll ever get to the bottom of this. From the sounds of it, it will just be hearsay and a way to sell a few newspapers. I just hope it serves as a reminder for players to treat the fans, especially impressionable children with respect and help sell the code. While I don't think this could ever be used as an example, I've heard of countless others ranging from last year to decades back where the players treated the fans with contempt. If the game ever wants the game to grow, they need to appeal to the younger fans.

Don't even get me started on the lack of Sunday games in Brisbane. If Superhero round taught us anything, it's that the young Broncos fans are incredibly deprived.

If I could return to the topic momentarily, I agree with BP that we are not likely ever to know where the truth lies in this little scenario, but some fault has to lie with the father for:-
a. Waiting around for an hour or more to front Gallen (and one would think that if he waited that long that Gallen's portrayal of him as the aggressor might have some legs);
b. Either encouraging or permitting the child to write an inappropriate and inflammatory message on the card; and
c. Then seeking to present that to Gallen.

I would regard those actions as having the intent of provoking Gallen and inflaming the situation. I do not regard this as setting a good example for the child.

Also interesting that the father posted on facebook the photos of the kids meeting the players and commented about how awesome a night it was etc etc and then made no mention of the incident with Gallen, but races to give the information to a reporter. Also interesting behaviour that he then goes around deleting various comments of that nature.
