If Turpin was not deemed to be in form in training for Logan Souths ( I never ever said Broncos Souths. Remember I said i wanted the chosen club to keep its name and identity) then he sits out.
Realistically this would rarely if ever happen and if it did, if Turpin was so poor in training that the coaching staff deemed him unworthy of spot then there would be something seriously wrong with Turpin not the setup and he rightly should miss out.
I'm sure you'd be the first to agree that no spot should be 'given' to any player, that every spot should be earned.
People forget the Broncos have done this twice with Toowoomba and Aspley and it's failed both times. I am yet to see an argument why a third time would work other than this time will be different trust me.

I don't think you can do it halfway- you have to take over and say we give you 17 players every week or not do it.
Broncos have to have 17 players ready to go for Souths every week. No Magpies required.
Which then brings into play all the problems from the last two times.
Souths aren't going to be able to attract players- no one is going there to train and maybe not play a game. They won't have any of their own players anymore.

Seems you're willing to blame the Broncos but not the prehistoric, outdated QLD Cup clubs.
The "next level down" should lead only to the Broncos and other Queensland clubs and aim to benefit them, not themselves which is why a reserve grade comp, funded by the NRL to benefit that competition should be created.
The QLD Cup should exist, but it shouldn't be the next level down. It is in no way beneficial for the growth or improvement of the NRL to have the next level of players split between two different competitions, playing with and against some good players and some part time players. It might have worked 25 years ago but the NRL needs to grow, and the entire idea of the QLD and NSW Cups is outdated and no longer works.
Tell me this.. How is the QLD Cup competition aiming to grow the game in regards to fans? How is it beneficial for our players to be split amongst numerous teams, being coached by people who might not have the best interests in the Broncos? What are the benefits of this competition being the next level down, instead of the negatives of the Reserve grade comp?
Outdated? Aspley was created for the Broncos to have a team. They had no history. You're wrong there.
How does the QC grow fans? You can watch every game, you can read game reports at full time, 10 years ago would you have known who Mozer was? They've put teams all around the state engaging fans. They have country round engaging people in areas that don't get football. A team from the QC has just been promoted to the NRL, stats and videos at full time for people- they could play the game in your backyard and bring over pizza and beer and you lot would still complain.
You've watched part of a game yesterday and still talking about the competition today.

I think you will find the only reason the Dolphins got in was because they had a leagues club which could finance this company and be viable for a long time. Had nothing to do with the brand. So much that they didn't even define the Redcliffe region in their name. They wanted a financially stable club not a q-cup side. You can use all the arguments you like but that is not one.
Also that end bit is actually assisting us because today we are talking about the heap of shit competition it is.

Sure but there is nothing to stop the club having a further 13 players of their own to make up their 30.
In fact are Qcup sides limited to 30? If they are the QRL can change that rule to allow our 3 (soon to 4) teams to have extra squad numbers in the affiliated clubs.
Look i know I'm flogging a dead horse debating with you as by all accounts you don't want anything to change on the grounds of it's been tried before. If we continue on with that attitude we'll never progress or develop the Broncos' currently severely flawed system.
I have never said I don't want it all I have done is point out the problems that are still yet to be solved and no one can offer up a single fix.
Seems to me if it was such a great idea Dave and Ikin would be doing it- don't forget Dave oversaw the same model at the Storm.
No limit on squads in ISC they tend to be bigger than 30.

Yes, outdated. Old school thinking that has an entire competition just sitting there not actually growing and becoming worse quality every year. Those Toowoomba VS Dolphins games in the 2000's were amazing to watch.
You can watch every game, but how many people actually are. Without being on the Broncos forum I never would have known the Q Cup has their own streaming website despite every other avenue I follow rugby league stuff on.
10 years ago I was reading Rugby League Week every week, especially the reports and team lists of Q Cup and the lower competitions. That's not growth, that's moving sideways.
They're only engaging fans that already exist by traveling to country towns. Are Queensland Cup teams visiting schools? I know Wynnum host our school boy competition but Wynnum High supply the refs and some bloke who wears a Seagulls polo walks around looking important but not saying a word to the kids or coaches.
Love watching the Parts Unknown Dolphins running around this year. They might have been the only Q Cup team that could carry themselves for a few years. The rest of them couldn't.
I literally live 500 metres away from Wynnum's home ground, basically my backyard. I go to a lot of their games and I find it funny that you will say the competition is growing and in the next breath imply that you're the only one who watched Q Cup games.
Also the fact that I watched that game yesterday, it was the only game readily available and it was shit does not help your point. If I am trying to become a fan and that's the Queensland Cups attempt at getting me to pay for their streaming service then they've failed.
That doesn't work either, when Ben and Shane didn't pick Broncos because they thought Jets were better- Bennett lost his mind.

Which is entirely why, as Broncos fans, the Q Cup as it is does not work. There's too many egos and the QLD Cup doesn't want to adapt. It should not be the next level down.

Maybe it does but If I am Dave and Ikin I want to hear more than that from your pitch and the first two things I am asking is why did it work at the Storm the exact system you say is broken and what have you fixed from the other two times?
