TBF i didn't think he was all that shit hot either at the start of last season.

The same things he does now, he was doing then. Sidways runs, no footwork, etc.

He's always been average at best IMO and i was surprised people had him down as a good chance for Origin.

If you cannot acknowledge his good form at the start of last season before he got injured then you're either blind, forgetful or you are just a poor analyst of the game.

Seems to me that my analysis is pretty accurate. I say stagg is shit, most, including urself disagree. 1 year later, you all agree he is nothing special. same with kelly, meyers, minto and now michaels. Im either a good analyst, or just really really lucky.
 
He was in better form (by his standards), i wouldnt say he was in "good form". Problem is, Michaels' good form is still only as good as any other players poor form. At NRL level, theres no room for players whose best form is still far from what is required
 
There's no place in the NRL for a halfback whose only attacking skill is a show and go.

Oh, wait....

Michaels is poor this year, but just have a look at his performances last year again, in particular, against the Titans on the Gold Coast. He, Ennis and Thaiday are the only reasons the Broncos got within 2 points of them.
 
why is this thread called Reni Matuai...it should be called the bag the crap out of michaels thread .....see if you stopped bagging him for one sec ...you would of seen that we lost Taylor .......
 
We've lost far better and more established players than Taylor and survived. Life goes on Mikey.

So it was worth spending as much as we would likely pay for Darren Lockyer in the twilight of his career to keep him? And probably have to lose other talented youngsters?

At the moment he's no more guaranteed of being a superstar than Summerpot, Glenn or McGuire.
 
Isn't Stagg the form 13 of the comp? And who really rated Kelly, Minto and Meyers (besides his first 2 years)?

Criticising players is like a sport on here.. actually, no.. more like mindlessly jumping on the bandwagon to do so.

A lot of people will be eating humble pie served up by Michaels before the year is out if you ask me.

I've always said Michaels was good, but I can't justify Folau being on the wing while he is in the centres no longer. Folau must go left centre, I was against it at first, but I do think that is where he has to go right now.

Haha.

Parker was soft last year, i was never 'anti-Parker' though. I'm delighted he's come back to form this season. Difference is, it's obvious Parker has talent, he's proven it consistently thoughout his time in first grade. Last season was his first real blip.

Steve Michaels meanwhile has played well in about five games.

Honestly, i think he has a fairly poor rugby league brain. Crap under the high ball, crap at passing, lacks footwork, can't run straight, terrible ball security, the list is endless.

The only thing he's ever had going for him IMO is his pace, and even that has dropped right off because of his injury.

1) You weren't correct about Stagg being shit. He's a good player, always has been and still is.

2) Everyone knew that Meyers was crap, don't try and claim that one for yourself

3) Kelly and Minto were different. Most people on here knew they were ordinary, but you're mind is going back to a period in 2005 where we lacked a lot of depth in certain areas and we needed those players in the team, nobody ever acknowledged them as being great players

4) Agree with Rocky re everything he said about Michaels. If you can't acknowledge his good form at the start of last season then you're a knob.
