Maranta doesn't seem quick off the mark. Once he gets going he is quick though.

I really hope we keep up the intensity in defence against the Cows.

The last few times we've played them we've dropped off and Bowen and Co. have carved us up.

We'll be able to score points, but we need to smother them out of the game.

I'm also worried JT will have a big game. He's been a little quiet so far this year.

Can't see anyone just being dropped......though a winger with speed would be nice.

Cowboys are a bit like the wounded Tiger at the moment. We'll have to be wary.

That said......I think we'll smash 'em !!

I was just responding to Donald, who dropped Maranta and no one else.

There is no doubting the strike power the Cowboys have but are playing somewhat disjointed, however, if we can stay to form, our defence might just frustrate them into mistakes. Other teams have shown that they have some fragile areas. Certainly a winnable game and 3 weeks ago we were no chance.

Mate I think he is solid at best but nothing more then that. Credit where credit is due and he is very good under the high ball. When he runs the ball back he stops when he hits the line. He doesnt get over the advantage line and he doesnt try and use any footwork like Hoff does.

There was an article in the CM a week ago about Maranta and how he hadnt seen any open space to show off his pace. Well last night Norman makes a clean break, Maranta tries to keep up with him and cant and because of that he bombs a try. If that was Yow Yeh of Hoffman they would have been odd's onto score that try. Reason I drop him is I see Kahu playing a lot more first grade then Maranta. Lets get him in on the wing this year. If we dont get Dugan or re-sign Norman before the cut off date it is possible Kahu will be playing FB next year. Let him have a year in first grade on the wing before we throw him in the deep end.

Leave this side alone to get on with developing the combinations.

(The last 2 results against 2 of the best teams at the moment ... if it ain't broke .... )

Excellent post Donald, exactly what I am thinking as well...

Only thing I want them to improve is conceding penalties. Cowboys thrive on repeat sets and attacking field position. Can't give up position easily.

We got raped on the penalty count last night but TBH some of those penalties were abosulte BS. The ref's were trying to make us loss that game. Same as the Roosters game. We got F'd over that game too.

It's a trend. The Broncos seem to get penalised for hand on the ball a LOT, so we need to be extra careful to avoid those penalties.

We do seem pretty slow getting off the tackled player. Parker pushes it to the limit IMO.

Also, Hannant had a mighty game last night, but he takes an eternity to get to his feet after he's been tackled.

Quicker play the balls would help us out greatly.

Which is why Hodges and Thaiday are so valuable.

Both are fantastic exponents of the quick play the ball.

Gillett is good in that department too.

Well I hope the cowboys that played the second half against penrith show up because if they do we will win by 30+.

The second half of the cowboys penrith game would have to go down as one of the most boring halves of footy I've watched. Both teams were absolutely shithouse!

Despite winning by 30 points the Cowboys still have a bit to work on. Only had a 66% completion rate and played poorly in the second half making schoolboy mistakes.

Just watched a replay of last night.

Our props need to look for the offload instead of just bash and barge, and still too much of that. If they looked to offload and had support ....

Norman's reading and positioning in the attacking plays was very good but made a few of those ego driven runs instead of passing. Still, haven't seen that many good "extra man" plays since KHunt was there - for 2 weeks running...

Maranta is too slow to read the plays. He isn't slow, but in the play where Norman made the break, Maranta was still standing. He left his run too late. Otherwise, I reckon he is a good, solid and safe wing. Why drop him yet? (As much as I want Kempy back)

Hoffa is a born winger. Absolutely no instincts for FB, but knows how to run and finish.

Prince was MIA now for only the 1st half and not the whole game, then did some good things while he was awake.

If we make sure we don't' take our eyes off Thurston and Bowen for a minute, or give them too much room, this one is also in the bag

I think we will win this game after the performance put in by them against the Titans. My only true concern was the amount of missed tackles. We were fulling off them all night, Gillett and someone else (can't remember who) had quite a few missed tackles I thought. If we do that too often with Thurston or Bowen they'll more than likely score.

Thurston and Bowen will run riot.

Scott and Tamou playing for test jumpers.

Broncos at Suncorp.

All signs pointing to a defeat for mine. Could just be the Monday arvo blues.

I've already tipped against them in our tipping comp at work, its worked well in our last two games for the Broncos even if we did lose against the Storm, better results then when I tipped us thats for sure.
