Round 8 - Broncos vs. Rabbitohs - Pre-Game discussion

be interesting to see what hook does if hoffman is indeed out for this game. im not sure it would be that fair on kahu to play him agasint the rabbitohos on anzac day it gonna be a big game. so much pressure for a player with so little first grade experiance. im like some others wouldnt mind seeing hodges to the halves and copley to centre and maranta to wing.

barba to 5/8 would just put to much workload on him and will be huge liabiltiy in defense. least hodges will not get rolled over and as we sore in the first few games this year copley and maranta played pretty well together on that side

You have obviously been watching a different bloke named Copely to me over the last 4 years or so - have you ever been to training and watched him throw the ball around and pass it and kick it - did you not watch him in the under 20's - you are under estimating his ability

and you want to blood a youngster up against the Burgess brothers - Sutton and GI - PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK

Yeah, ok mate

I went to school last year with Alex Johnston, NSW u18 captain, Aus u18 captain. A real talent, he's like a hero at my school. A real talent

i honestly wouldnt mind gillett playing 6 this week if it werent for him doing so well at 13 lately. and the tries he's scored running straight off barba short balls.

again moving players around is not the way to go in my opinion

Yeah I'd personally much rather see an actual 5/8 get a crack from the lower grades.

My Gillette comment was just a wild stab in the dark at guessing how Hooks interesting coaching mind works.

What the **** have these juniors done to piss off Griffin?? Like, seriously.

Griffin is just a crap coach, we all knew that for a long time now (though some still try to deny it, but deep down they know it too)

Hodges defending against Burgess...that's going to go down well.

Exactly. This has got disaster written all over it, as far as injuries to Hodges go.

I have no doubt he will be a better 6 then Hoffman, because you can only improve on shit, but this seems pretty dangerous to me. We'll have to have someone on guard duty ala Carroll for Locky.

Maranta was a 5/8 in a previous life though wasn't he ??

U20's he was in the backs but I did see him play 5/8th on one occasion for the norths devils did ok kicking wasn't good though and opposition barely ran at him so defence was never tested really

One defeat is worth the risk.

Yes, yes, yes!

We cannot be afraid to lose. Blooding youngsters is a natural part of the game. Yes, they will make mistakes, miss a tackle, make a wrong decision etc but they will make up for it down the track through experience, energy and enthusiasm.

I would be happy to cop a loss if it meant having a specialist in the halves who shows some pleasing signs. As for not trialing a youngster against Souths, why? It's the NRL - there are no easy beats anymore! Look at the Eels FFS! They hammered us in a game we were meant to win comfortably. There have been major upsets every week - any team can beat any team on their day! There is no point waiting for a "struggling team".

Let's take a risk because over the last few years the Broncos have sucked when playing it safe.

Missing a tackle is unforgivable for a half. We need to pick them with only defence in mind, like Hoffman. You can pick crappy defenders around them all you want, but halves have to defend well.
