RLW is finished. Three more editions. Round five will be the last one.

NRL will have to buy the Immortals if they want to continue the concept.
 
Wow. I'm betting it's because no one buys the print version any more?
 
47 years it has been going. Really sad.
 
That sucks.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I still enjoy buying Big League and Rugby League Week magazines. It's usually a nice way to learn more about the players and I like the attitude of RLW magazine. Where as Big League tries to be objective and diplomatic, RLW isn't afraid to call a spade a spade. If it wasn't for the A3 format, I probably would have bought more of them.
 
Writing has been on the wall a while, every scoop is blasted wall to wall on the day it's announced, team lists are posted everywhere, stats are easily available.... it's a relic of a bygone era.

As much as I love old school print, the interweb is so fast!
 
I didn't mind reading the mag but when you read it and literally 95% of it you already know because you heard about it earlier in the week, it's really kinda pointless.
 
It is a real shame but a definite sign of the times. Nobody buys newspapers or magazines anymore which is why all the newsagents are disappearing. RLW is an icon of the sport and will be sadly missed.
 
I stopped being a regular reader years ago but it's still a shame.

Is Big League still going?

It was a big broad sheet thing when I was young. You'd take out three people trying to read it.
 
Would have been challenging hiding it in a notebook!

Thankfully Big League had me covered during high school. It made lectures a breeze, I cannot say the same about exams though!
 
Will they maintain an online presence, or is that disappearing as well?
