Second Brisbane NRL Bid

Didn't he know there was a league team called the Brisbane Broncos, that is based there. [icon_lol1.

And that they are linked to several other league teams. [icon_shru

Broncos quite rightly realised he was a typical Kiwi leaguie. Super with the ball in hand but no commitment in defence.

The new Brisbane Team will have players lining up to play for them IMO. Over the union player talk until they actually commit to League. Would love James O'Connor at the Broncos.

What so just because some high profile Union players MIGHT sign with a new Brisbane side, the NRL should give the Brisbane side more consideration? Pfft. How is that even close to being a valid justification for a new Brisbane team. It means SFA really.

It's not just because of the high profile players, It's everything the bid are doing publicly that should have the NRL paying attention.

You wouldn't hear much about it down there, so i don't expect you to really know anything about the second team.

What? As opposed to us hearing much about it up here?

This is the first time I heard anything about it since the Broncos decided to **** their little launch day up by having a presser that people actually cared about.

I know people bag the buggery out of Gallop, but I don't think he's quite as stupid as people make out. I'm sure he's aware that Sydney is over crowded, and will not allow it to happen in SEQ.

This Brisbane bid will be nothing for at least the next 15 years IMO.

They are trying to buy their way into the NRL.

How are they? They are doing what any bid has to do to get a licence.

It's part of the process, to show the NRL they can attract players. Doesn't mean they're going to get picked.

I'd much prefer a second Brisbane team to a Central Coast side. I think Perth has to be the next port of call or even a second NZ side.

That's nothing. I heard a rumour that Peyton Manning, LeBron James and Dan Carter are going to sign for my new expansion team, the Cronulla Riots. That makes us a great bid for a new franchise.
Central Coast? Never mind that they have 100 years of history, 7000 paid members, a major blue-chip sponsor, coach, and current NRL players that are interested. We have RUMOURS. Pick us.

The NRL should get a team from Perth & Adelaide first ,(or relocate teams) before getting another Brisbane team.

is another team 1 hour out of Sydney really what the NRL need??? No I don't think so. If history was so important they would be still in the comp.

And yet, despite their amazing effort, I see the Bears missing out, because they will bring nothing to an already saturated NSW market. The TV dollars will decide who and where the expansion teams will be.
WA and SEQ are much better positioned imo.

And before another NSW team, I'd look at CQ and NZ (Wellington or Christchurch) too, if what we really want is expand the game.

Perth + Adelaide please, and then when Cronulla fail - one in Rocky or Ipswich.

Another team anywhere in NSW would be stupid... So we will get one no doubt.

It's not stupid, if the support is there and the town can handle a league team then do it.

Only Brisbane and the Central Coast seems to be able to handle a new club to be honest. Perth maybe.
While i agree if the town can handle it do it, for the games image in general having so many clubs crammed into one state doesn't look good.

I don't think it's a state based thing. There are too many in one city though.

I really think Perth needs to be pushed.

Official Team name..... Bronco's sound better. :finger:

How completely unoriginal. And that logo looks like something you'd see on a 1950's cereal box. There's nothing even remotely unique that ties Brisbane and Bombers.

Even the logos look like they were designed from the same template. Both have a wide triangular shape with a downward pointing apex, both designs are generally symetrical with wings of some sort on either side, with the team name written on top. The Brisbane Potholes would have been a more inspiring choice.
