it wouldn't be a pre-season unless souths fans players and former greats came out with the "this is our year" line

Isn't there already a post very similar to this about the media bringing out the usual Souths premiership story at the start of the year, do we need another one?

Plus if you actually read the quotes in the article the writer is really reaching for that premiership story.

John Sattlers quote - "I've been to training a couple of times to watch them and they're training the house down," Sattler said. "We've certainly got the players to do it, it's up to them and whether they can put it together.

"The coach had a good reputation in England, and he seems a very decent man. I think this new coach seems to have (brought) them all together."

Hmm.. premiership, better season, more consistent season and maybe Maguire might be the coach to finally turn a Souths team around? Plenty of things can be made from his quote but he never says this year either.

Mario Fenech's quote - "But this year, from what I've seen, we're a genuine, top-class team who have all the fundamentals ticked,".

Is that the premiership predicting quote? Seems like he is just saying Maguire has stripped them back and tried to build a more consistent performing team.

Going from the trial form I really don't know how we will go this year. I would rather make the top 8 with consistent football and worry about the premiership in the finals, if we get there.

I don't know if the post was really directed at you Twiztid, although it did generalise by lumping all of the souths fans in together. I suspect that it was directed at some of the less rational souths fans, particularly on other sites.

The post wasn't directed at me and I never took offence to it. All I am saying is, Broncoman could have looked for the other thread and continued with the Souths February premiership predictions bashing in there.

Plus if he actually read the article and looked at the substance in just the quotes. You could see it was a well crafted article that doesn't live up to the headline. It just goes to show how far it stretches the quotes to try and make it another premiership prediction article. IMO it isn't.
