Can someone please tell me the reason why we let him go?

I did hear that he wanted to play with Ashton so once we let him go he went as well?

He had another top game today.

Rookie of the Year IMO. It's a massive shame we lost him.

I thought he signed before Ashton.

The fact NQ offered him a big 6 figure deal for an unproven rookie had a lot to do with it, we obviously have cap issues every year and can't compete when sides offer that type of money to kids. Much like Taylor he hadn't earned the money someone else was offering so we had to make a hard choice and not match the offer.

I was certainly gobsmacked when he left. He was by far and away the best big forward in the NYC.

I didn't see much of him in NYC but i heard the wraps and so far in the top grade he has sure lived up to the reputation.

He was great today 2 tries plus one assist on top of 20+ tackles, played a huge part in the cows big comeback.

Parker, Teo, Gillett, Glenn and Thaiday might be why.
Why match a big offer to keep an unproven player?

Sure would be nice to have him though.

The Cows have done what we wouldn't have contemplated and turned him into an edge forward. He might never have had the success he's currently enjoying with us.

Ashton actually followed him north.

The Cowboys took a punt and were prepared to pay overs for Tariq at this stage of his career. Similar story when TLL went to Canberra.

Let's not forget though that Ashton was showing similar promise at the same age...

So we can expect Tariq to drop the ball in next years final series and cost his team a spot in the GF?

Depends if the rest of his team stay focused or not.

Wasn't he only going to stay if Ashton did?

Negative. I've heard that he wanted to get out of his brothers shadow. However still being bro's i bet there is no hard feelings that Ashton went north as well. Seems to be working out well for both of them!

I am told he wanted to play with Ashton. [icon_shru

It's a huge loss, but I guess we have Glenn, Parker Thaiday, Gillet & Teo so he was always a fair ways down the pecking order.

He wouldn't of made the team in our side anyway so not a big deal that he left.

He would have been on our bench this without doubt IMO

Full strength from round 1, No... Soon as Teo/Gillett got injured.. Yep and it would have been hard to drop him from there.

Bronco's didn't see him as an edge player though. It's doubtful he would have had the same impact he's having up north.
