Taumata Sacked

I read he was sack for off feild incidents at the Broncos, Roosters and now the Bulldogs. this guy seems talented, he really needs to get his act together

I never heard of him at the Broncos. Must've been a nuffy nobody who got on the turps.

I have no sympathy for guys like this who are repeat offenders when under the influence of alcohol. Get a clue, stop drinking, or at least only drink at home.

Good riddance. As far as I'm concerned you only get so many second chances.

It really is a shame that these guys could really become something in league and yet they won't learn they must give away alcohol.
It only means doing it for the season but it is such a culture and they are so young and impressionable and by now they should realize that every drunken bum is going to want to punch or stir a sportsperson.

Steve Price doesn't drink anything but water and I am sure there are many others to who don't drink these days.
Maybe the older guys who have got their act together could help these kids in some way to stay away from grog. [icon_shru

Luke O'Donnell doesn't drink either I saw him say once.

And it's not just to say you shouldn't drink at all. As Steve Ricketts pointed out today, Steve Menzies drinks as well as anybody out at pubs and clubs, but you never hear a bad word about him.

Because he can control himself even when he's been drinking.

That's the key. If you can't control yourself, you shouldn't drink. And a lot of responsibility has to fall on your mates to watch out for you too. If you can't trust yourself or your mates when pissed, then just don't bloody drink!

Bloody idiot.

'nuff said.

Menzies is older but Coxy and more mature. Also he has been around awhile.
Some of these guys are just so young and some of them it all goes to their head that they are 'stars' or think they are.

They hit the booze and next thing they don't know how the hell to handle the situation. They are only normal young blokes with big a big public eye watching their every move.

It is a hard thing to ask a young guy not to go out and have fun.

I know they take the money and they take the job therefore they should know what the rules are but gees they are ,most of them anyhow, still just young blokes therefore no different to you or any of the young guys around today.
Not condoning what they do when they stuff up but I can understand.

I was at the Broncos-Bulldogs game a few weeks ago and there were 2 young guys sitting beside me who were really excited about watching Arana Taumata playing. He lived with them when he was in Brisbane so they were close. First time I had heard of him actually and he scored a bloody good solo try that game. Pity about his behaviour issues...

Holy sheight another bad news story for the Dogs.

He was on Broncos Scholarship. Broncos found him in NZ, brought him over here and he was going to school at Clairvaux. Apparenelty he played up like a 2nd hand lawn mower, and the Broncos had punted him by the time he was 16.

Heard some pretty crazy stories about him, bit of a nutter. Shame he's a good player, but too bad he is a screw loose on the sip.

bianc: menzies was young once too. i never heard a bad word about him. 90% of youngsters also go out and have fun trouble free. guys like carney, taumata, johns should have been banned from the drink very early.

Exactly Coxy - I am sick to death of hearing about young footballers (or other sportpeople) should be given a pass when they play up because they are young. We were all young once and I am sure all have our own stories of nights out on the drink - but very few of us would have got into the situations/incidents these guys seem to.

Am also sick of people saying that these guys are targetted because they are footballers and are made to be public figures. 1. At such a young age, most of them haven't 'made it' yet and are not really that recognised; and 2. they choose to pursue a football career and know that if they are successful with their career they will be public figures, so they need to be prepared to deal with the consequences of their choices.

From what I know they are not releasing the exact details of what happened either, but the result was a broken jaw.

Exactly right. I am not condoning what they do but I do understand how being young they still are immature and get themselves into situations that they cannot handle.
Hasn't it be tried to stop the drinking of these blokes? Doesn't seemed to have worked. Can't put an older more experienced head on young shoulders.
They probably go out with the intention of not drinking or playing up but it happens unless the person is very strong willed.

No admit I have not heard anything ever about Menzies although he is one of the good guys of our game IMO.
