So a few weeks back there were strong whispers both Ivan and Nathan were on Broncos list to grab.

It’s all gone quiet, what happened or is it completely rubbish?

Personally I would love it if we got them both.
 
Do we really want Ivan? He's a massively overrated as a coach. Tigers just beat two top 8 teams then get beaten by a spoon contender, if that doesn't point to a coaching issue then I don't know what does.

Also the fact that they come off contract in different years would make it a hell of juggling act to land them both.

Tigers are right in the middle of a re-building phase, after some massive screw ups in the last few years. I think they overachieved this year, really.

As for the rumour, I'm pretty sure it was completely baseless like 90% of them this year.
 
Geez I hope it's not true.

Bennett is a better coach than Ivan Cleary.

Nikorima is a better halfback than Nathan Cleary.

Stay at the Tigers. We don't need them.
 
Cleary is only 20, he's definitely going to have bad games, just like all the other 20 year olds. He does have quite a bit to work on, but he easily has a higher ceiling than Nikorima IMO.
 
No thank you. Cleary would come with a massive price tag and is overrated IMO. I’d rather see how Nikorima goes the rest of this season.

I just don’t see where all this Cleary hype comes from. He was shithouse in origin and has been average all year. Brandy obviously loves the guy because last night he practically went as far as saying he single handedly won the game for Penrith yesterday. You have to be kidding me. His kicking game was fucking horrible and he constatntly made the wrong decisions. If Nikorima has one bad game he is the worst halfback to ever play the game. Cleary has shithouse games all the time but he is the next Andrew Johns apparently.

To prove my point I just went through every attacking stat in the NRL. Cleary isn’t in the top five for any attacking stat this year.

Nathan laughed at the suggestion. For that, I hope we sign his dad for life so we can laugh when he has to sign here.

It's pretty hard to be in the top 5 for a stat when you've missed 10 games.

I agree with that but I stand by statement. He is overrated!

Cleary has missed a fair few games this season.

Please ... Nikorima isn't anywhere even remotely close to Cleary as a halfback.

the only advantage we get from having Nikorima instead of Cleary is salary cap space

If you don’t rate Cleary as a coach then I don’t think you follow much football.

His last 3 coaching tenures (Tigers, Panthers, Warriors) he pretty much started in all 3 clubs in hard circumstances and has never walked into a settled team. He has made his name by taking these underachieving clubs to being competitive and at least competing for a title. Took the Warriors to a GF and got Penrith to a preliminary final with his unfancied teams. He has a knack for getting some good football out of underachieving players. The progress of the Tigers this season is nothing to be sneezed at considering the circumstances. With the draw the way it is they may still sneak into 8th in a months time.

He might not be Bennett but he would be an adequate replacement. I would love to see what Ivan could do with a team like the Broncos

He seems a great rebuilder of clubs, but that's not what we need.

Cleary is 20 year’s old. He’s still inconsistent as most 20 year olds are. He’ll be a great eventually.
