So what you're saying is they offer more, but they don't offer more?

The Gold Coast region offers a lot more than the CC region in terms of population, junior bases and expanding the Queensland market.

The CC bid just overpopulates an already overpopulated market.

Hence why the Titans need to get their s**t together because they're resting on a gold mine.

It's incredible how easily other clubs (Broncos mainly, but also the likes of Raiders, Eels and Tigers) snatch promising players right under their noses!
 
It's not surprising young players jump at the chance to leave the Gold Coast system when every player that comes on the market is linked to the Titans.

Yep, I believe if the Titans want to be successful they really need to win the battles at Keebra Park (basically run by the Tigers) and Ipswich (basically a Roosters area). They need to be extremely aggressive because those regions are essentially Rugby League gold mines that they should be getting their players from yet they're allowing out of state sides to swoop in and steal them away.

Kind of like how the Broncos take from the Newcastle, North Queensland, Gold Coast and New Zealand regions. Regions that IMO, we'll eventually lose IF those clubs get their act together.

And just to illustrate Porthoz' point about the Broncos recruiting Titans juniors here's a list of players we've recruited who are currently in the squad...

Ben Hannnant (Burleigh Product)
Ben Te'o (Keebra Park Graduate)
Corey Norman (Keebra Park Graduate)
Kurtis Lingwoodock (Ipswich Prodigy)
Cameron Cullen (Australian Schoolboy)
Jordan Kahu (Peter Sterling Medalist 2009)

And a host of NYC players such as Furminger, Diffey, Faamita etc. etc. who filled in through out the NYC season.

And this doesn't include all the other Gold Coast players we recruited before they existed like Darius Boyd, Greg Eastwood, Denan Kemp, Steve Michaels etc. etc.

The Titans are a proven draw with both the Broncos and Cowboys crowds and have drawn superior numbers than a number of NSW clubs over a number of years. Yes, figures were down this year, as you'd expect given the results and the type of year that they had but you'd expect them to be better. They haven't produced a lot of juniors but it'd take a dimwit to say Kevin Gordon and Matt Srama don't exist among a couple of other prospects who have made a start with the club.

And what proof do you have of the CC? They can't even get admitted into the NRL where as the Titans basically forced their way in. Not off to a very good start...

Having the Titans in the comp has done absolutely nothing for the game so far, so how could it possibly be good for the game? They have failed to get any good juniors in FIVE years FFS. Their crowds are average at best for a city like the Gold Coast and QLD rugby league isn't any stronger because of the Titans. QLD league would still be strong if the Titans didn't enter the comp.

What have we achieved with the Titans? At the very least the CC wouldn't be broke and they certainly wouldn't have too much trouble sustaining good junior development and they wouldn't have too much trouble recruiting Central Coast boys who are currently playing.

The Gold Coast isn't a gold mine, it's a black hole. It's not surprising that this is he 3rd Gold Coast team that's struggled big time.

Just because the idiots at the helm of the Titans aren't taking advantage of the local resources, doesn't mean the GC doesn't sh!t all over the CC from great height!

The Central Coast is a strong league area because everyone there have lived there forever and grown up with the code. The Gold Coast is a lot like my area, in that it's full of ex-Victorians who move for the weather and call the NRL 'rugby'.
I'm not saying that the Bears should've got the nod back in 05. I think the NRL were 100% right to get in on the Gold Coast before any other codes did. But the management of the club seem to have squandered the opportunity they had to entrench themselves and become the dominant team on the Coast. Where are the local heroes? The Burleigh and Southport kids who've made the big time representing their home city? They're nowhere to be seen, because the Titans have tried to buy their way to the top.
 
Why don't you go ahead and ask them Rock and get back to me with some accurate figures. All we know right now is that the Gold Coast is a bigger market than the CC, all the rest is speculation on your part.

And I'm not going to argue against the Titans being a poorly wrong club because we all know they are. What I will argue is that the Gold Coast is a better region for Rugby League than the CC, they deserved to be admitted over the CC when they were and that we should persevere with that region than getting rid of it and bowing to a market that's already over-populated and apparently has better things to do than attend Rugby League matches.

While I still firmly believe GC is a better spot for a team than Central Coast, fact is the Gold Coast Titans are not providing evidence of that. Simply not good enough.
 
Which is why I want to see them succeed because it's of a bigger benefit to the game if they do.

But I can't help but relish in their problems, especially considering how so many of them gloated they'd "passed" the Broncos in 2010.
