RISING Broncos under 20s player Matt Berwick is in a coma at a Brisbane hospital following a car accident last night.
Berwick, a Toyota Cup centre and Queensland Schoolboys representative, was involved in a serious accident on Thursday evening.

"Our under-20s player Matt Berwick was involved in car accident last night,'' Broncos CEO Paul White said in a statement.

"Matthew is in a serious but stable condition. The Broncos have staff with the family (and) are giving them and Matt their full support.

Thoughts are with him & his family.

Beat me by a good 3 minutes.

I echo your sentiments, all the best to him and his loved ones.

Also found the news about him signing an extension not surprising but interesting. I definitely think he could be handy for us out-wide & would like to see how he goes after an off-season with the club. He hasn't had the best year in NYC, injured early and had to adjust to the centres which for mine is the most difficult position in the backs. His size makes him a handful out-wide but like a lot of young centres his defence leaves a bit to be desired.

Fingers crossed he gets through all this. So long as he survives and can live a happy normal life footy doesn't matter.

Very very sad news. He spent some time with Redcliffe before cracking a spot in the U20s. A really nice young guy. Thoughts & prayers are with his family.

Like Beads said Footy doesn't matter one bit, just hope he makes a full recovery

Hope he pulls through.

What a shocking couple of days on our roads. Take care, everyone.

Has anyone heard any more about him.

Poor bugger, was hoping he was out of the coma and we just hadn't heard anything.

Thanks for the link.

That's so sad :( Hopefully he can make a full recovery. My thoughts are with his family.

A poster on LU provided this update...

I believe he is not in a coma but has a severe brain injury. He is responsive to people around him but cant communicate.
