I don't agree at all.
Even though I'll enjoy seeing Manly and Storm players bashing the hell out of eachother, It's not good for the game.

It gives an impression of thuggery to most outsiders and to the people we want to attract to our code. The fact that it's a physical, tough sport, doesn't mean it shouldn't be clean and situation like this should be addressed harshly by the game's administration.

As a parent of a 16 y/o League player, both at school and club level, and as a manager of his junior league team, I abhor that type of behaviour and will harshly punish any team member that gets into biff, unless it's to defend himself.

The game already has a tarnished image, with too many people thinking it's for uneducated thugs, let's avoid giving them more ammunition!
 
Clean record and a guilty plea will mean that the penalty is really just a slap on the wrist for a lot of these players.

The different charges all carry the same points, so it will depend on each individual's charge grade and their history at the judiciary.
I reckon Glenn Stewart, Adam Blair and Darcy Lussick are done for the season, Brett Stewart will get 3 games, Foran and Waqa maybe 1 each if they enter a plea, and the rest will be able to play if they plea...
 
according to Fox Sports most will cop 1 week including Brett Stewart.

No way!
Brett Stewart's charge carries 325 pts, which would be 3 weeks without plea. Normally a plea will take 25% off the charge, making it 243 pts, which is 2 weeks suspention!
 
Another 25% for having a clean record.

Why isn't G Stewart charged with striking as well?

Also a player who is sent from the field is entitled to a discount of 1 point for every minute off the field. I'm not sure if this applies to Blair and Stewart because the wording used is for misconduct.

It's impossible to work out how much time each will get without knowing their history and carryover points etc. but I find it hard to believe that G Stewart could get less than Blair which seems likely. ( Manly discount)

In seriousness, Blair's striking charge is for the uppercut on Lussick in the initial fight.
 
Yes, but he did connect when the 5 had Blair on the ground. As did Lussick and Foran.
