Off-contract Ross wants three more years at the top
Josh Rakic
June 26, 2011

SOUTH SYDNEY prop Ben Ross says he wants to play for another three years, as he prepares to return to Shark Park after a neck injury that threatened to end his career and kept him off the field for two seasons.

Fresh from his man-of-the-match performance for the Rabbitohs in their 16-12 win over the Broncos on Friday in Perth, the off-contract prop said he was relishing the return to Cronulla as Souths, now equal eighth on the ladder, begin to build momentum.

''I was pretty happy about Friday,'' Ross said. ''I'm finally starting to put some good form together. I'm like a little kid again out there - I'm enjoying every minute on the field.

''I'm feeling good and I'm only 31. I don't want to retire for another three years.''

What are your thoughts? I know 31 is getting on a bit but he has had 2 or more seasons completely sat on his arse so his body should have a few more miles. I have not seen him play a bad game since he came back and I feel he is the type of unit that the Broncos have been lacking since McGuire got injured.

He's playing solid footy for the Bunnies. He wouldn't be a bad depth signing.

Wouldn't mind him for a reasonable price.

Yea I wouldn't mind him for a decent price. But if it means losing someone like Anderson then nah.

Anderson is supposedly gone anyway. If Ross was willing to play for the minimum contract and enjoy playing QLD cup yeah why not sign him. Probably end up at the Titans IMO.

Wasn't he on a big contract when he came to Souths? What happened to that?

Besides, not sure where people are getting the info Anderson is gone, he just resigned for another 2 years.

There were rumours Anderson was heading to Souths.

And no, he was signed AFTER the neck injury when it appeared he wasn't going to play another game.

Don't want him. I went to a men of league lunch two years ago and someone put a question to him about playing for the Broncos his reply "No thanks. I HATE the Broncos"

I don't want someone with that opinion playing for us. Especially if its just for depth.
