If we do lose Herbie we probably need to recruit a center who is comfortable on the left side. As much as i rate Hoeter, he's naturally right sided same as Brenko. I think pretty much any center who is NRL ready at the club is a right sided player. No balance.

I'm not denying his worth overall, just his worth to the Broncos who should be spending their money on a fullback, five-eight or hooker. Unless he can play those positions he can struggle on the Coast. It's what he wanted.
I agree, but there is nothing out there.

there is a culture shift happening as we speak, Fifita outside of Arey I mouth watering.

Is your mate a chance of coming back? I'm pretty sure Herbie is gone (just a hunch) so we need someone reliable who is a proven week in week out player.

I think both he and his partner would like to move back to QLD, both their families are from here, but he does like it at Parra. They dont really put any expectation on him to try to be something he isnt which is a lot different from when he was at the Cowboys. He's on a decent contract at Parra, but i reckon he would move back here for less. The cost of living where he is is horrendous.

Tell him to email Ikin and make it happen.

If that is true that Haas is trying to get Fifita back, that isn't the big take away there. The big take away is Haas is very much invested in the Broncs again if that's true and he is certainly playing like he is.
That was my takeaway as well, if Haas is trying to get him back, Haas must be wanting to stick around

Let's go!

We need to prioritize other positions. Second row isn't where we need to be throwing money, at all.
This is true. I'd rather we spent $700k on a 5/8 or fullback.

400k would be very fair for Herbie
But can we actually afford that with the state of our spine and dollars already invested in the forwards as well as Staggs as a backline strike weapon.

I think the hard decisions need to be made and investment is needed in the spine before we splurge on more luxury players.

Herbie showed last night that he is an elite winger, which was already known... but I don't think we have the right balance across our team to invest in that at the moment.

My chocolate sauce tells me Haas is trying to convince Fifita to come back to us next year, who isn't loving life on the coast, I reckon we can afford to pay him around the 700k, and I think the Titans would be willing to release him.

It would very likely involve us releasing Riki to Melbourne though.
I'd rather keep Jordan.

Even lazy Fifita is miles better by any metric but I do agree Fifita probably has an attitude problem.
Did Fifita have much of an attitude issue before he left though?

I know people will say that his year with us before going to Titans he was poor... but the whole squad was poor and having to play under Seibold.

I do genuinely think that he didn't want to go to titans... and it's not like we didn't accept a prodigal son when Hodgo came back... who then went on to become one of the all time greats for our club.

I would welcome Fifita back no problem.

I'd like to keep Jordan as well though and think he would be a better middle than edge anyway... but I also think Riki has been good for us on the edge with his improvements in defence

I think year Fifita has been putting the work in. I dont think he has been that lazy, the Titans just dont seem to play to his side of the field that much.

I'm just not sure we could afford to take Fifita. Are we even allowed to sign him on a contract way below his current one?
Considering he was paid way overs and is well beyond the next highest for his position I can't see why there would be an issue.

I think the next highest paid second rower is/was Crichton on about $800k (excluding locks like Murray, Tmol, etc.).

That's about what Fifita is worth when in form i.e. what we offered him when titans outbid themselves... I'd say he's currently worth about $700k.
