Thought this deserved it's own thread. He said he hasn't closed the option:

Brisbane bookend Ben Hannant has played down suggestions he'll follow departing coach Wayne Bennett to the Dragons next season, but admits a move south of the border remains a possibility.

An impressive start to the season has seen the 106kg enforcer secure a permanent starting role for the Brisbane club, but the Broncos may struggle to keep Hannant once he comes off contract at the end of 2008.

With doubt over prop Jason Ryles' future at the Dragons, St George Illawarra officials may opt to release Ryles from the final two years of his contract in order to make room for 23-year-old Hannant.

Speaking out ahead of the Broncos clash against the Tigers this Saturday, Hannant admitted he is not closing the door on a potential shift to St George Illawarra.

"I'm still looking at options and all that stuff with managers," said Hannant.

"I don't know what's going on yet. I'm just focusing on playing good footy.

"If I’m playing good footy, that sort of stuff (contracts) works out itself.

"Whatever is best for my family is the decision I'm going to make at the end of the day."

If Ryles was to leave the Dragons at season's end, Hannant is expected to be targeted by Bennett to partner Justin Poore and Dan Hunt in the front row.

Bennett is also believed to be targeting Penrith rake Luke Priddis who seems unwanted by the Panthers past the 2008 season.

Priddis, who won a premiership with Bennett’s Broncos in 2000, would seem a perfect fit at the Dragons who will lose Simon Woolford to retirement at the end of the year.

Interesting given this a couple of weeks back:

This is where I want to be (living on the Gold Coast)," said Hannant.

"Even if I sign for a long term with the Broncos I am not going to move from here.

"I love the Gold Coast. It is where I have lived my whole life and this is where I am going to be when I retire."

Its a long drive to Wollongong for training, Ben.

You simply can't trust or read into anything players say to the papers these days until pen has been put to paper.

Our front row stocks aren't all that flash beyond Hannant and Thaiday so hopefully Bruno will put a decent offer to him and we can secure his services for a few more years.

He's just trotting out the same old line every player uses when they're involved in contract negotiations - the 'I'm considering all options' line. I'm not reading anything into it.

And whatever happens, as long as the Broncos don't sign Jason Ryles, I'm happy icon_thumbs_u

All he did was dodge the question and suddenly hes heading to St.George... thats the media drumming it up

Im sure hes considering the Gold Coast, we should be offering him $300K minimum

At this rate, Ryles could be our only option.

Ryles could come cheap. [icon_evillaugh

300k min? [icon_lol1.

C'mon, he's good and has potential, but he hasnt played rep football and not even Civo could get $300k from the broncos! You're dreamin'!

Methinks he will have played rep footy by the time he comes to actually sign a contract.

That's ridiculous. We didn't even offer Civo 350K. There is no way we'd offer Hannant that much IMHO.

Agree we shouldn't offer him that much.

It says he is discussing things with his managers. HE DOESN'T HAVE A MANAGER! He represents himself ffs. I personally wouldnt read anything into this. Titans are much more likely than St George.

I was thinking exactly the same thing Clintos, load of crap trying to stir the pot. Also if Costigan goes to the Titans he won't go there, so whilst it is not guaranteed I believe he will stay.

Hannant will stay at the Broncos, eveyday there is another player going to the dragons with Bennett im sick of hearing about it all (especially when living in Sydney) Bruno just hurry up and sign him Michaels and Boyd.

My friend just told me Hannant signed for 3 years with the Queens [icon_non [icon_non [icon_non [icon_non [icon_non [icon_non [icon_non [icon_non [icon_non [icon_non    [icon_non [icon_non [icon_non [icon_non [icon_thumbs_do

I am waiting for her to confirm her source. I hope it's lies, all lies.
