PRE-GAME Round 25 - Broncos vs Sea Eagles

Let's just see more of the intensity we saw in the last two games please.

**** i dont know what results this weekend will need to happen for it but i hope we come up against the sharks in the finals and kmock them out...

Gallen just said bird made a mistake because sharks are a winning team that plays finals footy every year... hahahaha the broncos have missed the finals twice in 25 years and have the 2nd best win percentage of the last 3 years hahaha

He needs to quit boxing, his brain cells are quickly dissapearing....

Not really you've got that right. I didn't see anything live but from the quote that's not what he said or rather you've misinterpreted it.

“At the end of the day, everyone loves a winner.
“What would Jack rather do — play lock or five-eigth and score two or three tries a game and lose? Or play in a team that’s winning every week and playing semi-final football? That’s what you’d rather be doing.” Paul gallen

The Sharks are full strength, and have been for much of the season, yet are only one win ahead of our side which is choc full of kids in their first nrl season.

I don’t hate Gallen as much as most people on here, but he’s encouraging Jack to break contract. If it can be proven that the Sharks enticed a guy with 3 years left on his contract to pressure us into releasing him then they need to be fined or docked points. Same with the Panthers with Peachey.

Edit: it’s barely acceptable when clubs sign a guy with one year left and then try and get him a year early, but this is just in another realm of scumdom.

Better to rest Macca to get him fully fit for the finals.

Hopefully the Manly players hate Barrett so much they just lie down for 80 minutes to give us a free 50 point win as a "**** you" to him.

From all reports the players fully support Barrett and "hate" the owner/upper management.

They'll be fired up for Sunday as it is their last game with Barrett and would prefer a big "**** you" to the board for pretty much forcing him out

Guess Turpin gets another crack if he isn't injured?
I would say he's going to share time with Glenn starting. Excited to see the guy have another crack, he looked good last time.

Thought McGuire did well at dummy half when he had to do it. Not a speed threat but I guess he a size threat to a retreating defensive line if he runs the ball. While on dummy halfs,
Michael Ennis has backed the Broncos to win the premiership from the bottom half of the eight

He didn't have us making the 8 at the start of the year. I hope he is right.

In general, the Fox coverage this year has not been great. Lots of sensationalised opinion and Ennis is the worst for it. Too many talk shows with different names. Controversy corner is the worst show. But there coverage of games is still better than 9 and reluctantly for this reason I will probably keep it.

Yes but you have to invent the link to the Broncos to accuse him of referring to the Broncos. I believe his response is more about the notion, the idea that J bird is choosing or would choose to play for any team in any situation that allowed him to get his hands on the ball more often rather than simply accept a role that helps a winning team. I think the selective quote in isolation was very much intended to illicit the response the writer got from you and the linkage that on an initial read could be made. Bear in mind Gallen may have said much more prior to the quoted lines and it may have been ommitted.

Mick Ennis is one of the more balanced of all the journo's imo. He seems to be one who would rather talk about the footy at hand and usually is quite honest in his upraisal of clubs, putting his bias aside.
His colour calling is a bit exaggerated at times, but that's purely inexperience. I think with work he could go on to be one of the better commentators in the game.

Weird, because he was a total grub on the field, and I hated him even when he played for us.

you don't need to invent any link to the Broncos ... Gallen refers to them.

head over to the Bird thread and read the article yourself, complete with Gallen's quotes

I had read the article before I read your post. Yes, the very same article and I read the part that got you wound up my initial thought was the same as yours. That said I realized that selective quoting and omission can completely change the direction or intent of the person quoted. I don't think that Gallen was referring to the Broncos rather it was as I said, the hypothetical scenario to which he was responding.

It's hard to believe you and others think Gallen doesn't know that the Broncos play semi final football virtually every year, that they are hugely successful as a team and are without doubt one of the most successful teams in every department with the greatest coach of all time. Pretty sure Gallen knows all that so it begs the question if you think about it. Was he really referring to the Broncos or just musing that playing for a team at the top is not as important to Bird as getting to play where he wants ?
