Eden's biggest problem is his inability to not get pushed back 5 metres every time he returns a kick or takes a hit up....it is the most frustrating thing to watch. I think a lot of it has to do with where his centre of gravity is when he hits the line. Maranta can atleast make a metre when he hits the line.

Look, he tries hard and all, and is occasionally 'safe'. For the most part though, he's dreadful and uninspiring.

Gagai was exactly the same when he started in the NRL. He was constantly told to put on size to handle it better. Gagai looks to have a bigger frame and was still growing at the time. Eden doesn't have that luxury. He could probably have worked on footwork and body positioning.
Both Maranta and Eden are better fullbacks than wingers. I really hoped Eden would stick around in the NRL and end up at the Knights under Nathan Brown. I have no doubt under a coach familiar with his abilities, he would of gotten the best out of him, and we'd all see a completely different player.As for Maranta, he just looks so uncomfortable on the wing. I want to see him come off his wing and rove around a bit like a fullback, just to see what he can do in a more familiar sort of role for him. Maybe that will get him out of his shell a bit more.

What's there to get familiar with? No coach can work with a player who makes negative metres.

I think there was a game last year where Maranta played fullback, and he really did look much more confident in himself. I'm pretty sure he set up a try with some nice support play too. Also, Eden looked infinitely better at fullback in the trial match, albeit against a second string Cowboys side. He scored a couple and set up a couple more with good cutout passes.
