Proposal to change the game as we know it

I'm sick of hearing about this so-called "player fatigue."

I work in a job that would be considered higher stress than most jobs, and you know what I'm forced to do to counter that? Take 10 consecutive work days off each year (with a total of 4 weeks leave).

These guys have it easier than school or uni students with the amount of time they have off.

Let me work for 80 minutes a week. Read up on markets for another...8 hours(?) Then give me October to February off. See how much I complain.

I agree with guppy.

Some of the proposals in that survey are utterly ridiculous.

Reduce the game to 60 minutes? Play in quarters?

No thanks.

I wasn't aware the product of Rugby League was the problem? If we change the game we lose so this dick heads better STFU. I could live with the boys playing 4 Quarters of 20 mins but I don't want a change at all TBH.

While I agree with your post in general, to say league players only "work" for 80 mins a week is a bit unfair. Sure they don't work a 9-5, 5/6/7 day a week job, but they are certainly putting in more than a 80mins work a week.

Hence the "read up on markets for another 8 hours" - which is my personal comparison to training. Still work, but not part of the proper action.

But they have all those stressful media commitments, public appearances etc. You know, where they sit there and sign their autograph and have photos with adoring fans.

Hard life.

I'm tired of businessmen trying to come up with ways to maximise revenue and disguise it as concern for players welfare. Call it what it is you tossers you're not fooling anyone.

All these revenue projections they do are toatally untested, a bit like the business wankers who project tunnel or toll road usage when they are trying to sell it, it looks great on a graph but that's about it.
The call for a proper home and away season is great but if the ultimate aim is expansion then that will be blown out the door in the next 5 - 10 years unless they relocate some teams which won't happen.

60 minutes?! look back on all the historic come backs and tell me those wouldve happened if the game was only 60 minutes old! Mark coyne might not have scored THAT try if the players were less fatigued etc. Worst idea ever

Anyone else find it funny that after you fill it out you get the option to create our own Survey?

WTF GO AWAY STUPID *****!
If they change the game to 60 minutes then they are the biggest dickheads ever!
**** I hate this administration, to even consider that is ridiculous, I don't know of many fans in the game who would want 60 minutes games!

The only way I would support the 4 quarter idea is if it meant all games were shown live.

Fairly sure they'd be training for more than 8 hours a week though.

Still I think they are pretty soft for not being able to "work" for even 30 weeks a year for the money they are on

Why would it matter if the games are live on TV for you to agree with the 4 quarters idea?? Only 2 games a week aren't live.. The Tv rights deal should fix the issue anyway.

Even then I wouldn't agree but if they're going to be assholes and change the game I would rather 4 x 20 minute live game than a 60 minute game.

IMO they are dickheads if they change the game at all, it should be kept exactly the same, I love watching league just how it is.

I could stand 4 Quarters, If it ment it was a faster game and they worked out less Stoppages.

the funny thing is how they talk about stopping player fatigue........but over the last few seasons theyve been trying to bring in more rules to keep players playing MORE football per match, ie. changing from unlimited interchange to limited, and then further reducing the amount of interchanges per team. so what is it, do they want players playing less or do they want them playing more?

for those that didnt fully understand the 60 minute games, that would ONLY be for games in February and March. after that it goes back to 80 minutes.

i COMPLETELY agree with the full home/away season, that is something that NEEDS to be changed. i dont agree with 30 rounds though, they need to drop some teams and get that down to low-mid 20s.
