Thats terrific news we should never let Cobbo become off contract or pass November where he can get offers from other clubs anymore.

You are missing the point of this argument. The point is he is a good young player so he costs to much. As such if he isn’t in that 13 you have to think really hard over whether he is worth keeping or not.

Yes they both had their chances and shown us that neither have what it takes compared to what we have playing already. Dolphins would be a option to get them some support though I agree. Cobbo,Paix are miles ahead and the way of the future for our club.

I thought Niu was good just before his recent injury. I thought he had developed his cleaning up of kicks and also showed signs of backing up well to add to his running game. We just debuted him before he should have been given a debut. I think long term he will be a good player.

Unfortunately for him TMM has played a different game that improves our defence and ball playing and we have committed to Farnworth and Cobbo on good money. As such, we probably have to offload him. Arthars will go and Oates will also take the money at Redcliffe. We will need to buy some replacement backs but this is not the worst spot to be in.

He's played a role, not a big role. Defence is all about attitude. Wanting to put in that extra effort and be there for the person next to you. We were defending strongly without him to start off the season, but that Cowboys game rocked our confidence. We weren't expecting that from the Cowboys. It took a few weeks to fix that and we showed signs in the first half against the Roosters and Panthers but doing that for more than 40 minutes was the challenge. Getting that win against the Bulldogs got confidence back in the side and we built on that.

The only quote I have seen about Oates was that he is leaving it to his manager, and he doesn't want to discuss it before June as his focus is on playing good footy. I can't remember if that was a direct quote, or more BS media.

Respectfully disagree with your assessment. You make some decent points and I don’t think TMM is gonna win dally m fullback of the year anytime soon but I don’t think we win all 5 without him because without him we would’ve needed to play Cobbo, or Mead, even with Niu or Isaako I think we don’t play as well.

The bigger problem is what to do with Tesi Niu, who has another year on his contract. I know @theshed is a massive fan and this would break his heart, but I think we should be offering him to Wayne to make up for keeping Herbie.
